Naturally about aircraft. My Dad gave me The F6F Hellcat VS A6M Zero-SEN, Pacific Theater, 1943-1944. Nice pics and info on both aircraft. Also he passed along Great Warbirds, The P-38, P-40 and P-51. Haven't dug too much into that one but again, great shots for detailing.

On the subject of books any recommendations for books on WWI aircraft?

So off to the library. I need to retrieve my smoking jacket, pipe and a glass of wine. Who the heck am I kidding. Need to find my reading glasses, grab a brew and hit the recliner.

I don't typically read books about planes (sci-fi/fantasy, now that's a different story!), but I do have an interesting story to relate. Back around 2002 or so, a co-worker got me a book called "Sky Spies". This is a book dedicated to reconnaissance/special ops aircraft. As I was flipping through the book, I came upon a Beechcraft RC-12D. I then related to him the story of my old Air Force days spent co-located with the Army Guardrail unit in Wiesbaden Germany who used the RC-12D as our downlink platform.

As I continued to flip through it, I came across the EC-130H Compass Call. I then told him that not only had I been a member of the squadron that the plane pictured was assigned to, but that I had actually flown on the plane in the picture.

Blew his mind! :D

I like stories like that. I bring info on past jets I have worked when someone shows a picture they find.

You might try Flight of the Intruder, I just finished it a couple of weeks ago and it was a good Vietnam airman, carrier landings type of story.

That is a goob book. Two of my favorites is "Flight of the Old Dog" and Day of the Cheetah. Both by Dale Brown, an ex F-111 guy.
