  • Advice to MotionRC fans, supporters and enthusiasts.

If this subject is deemed to be "political", please feel free to shut it down and delete it.
This is directed at forum participants who also happen to be avid MotionRC fans. Many, if not most of us are in this category. I, for one, am a big fan. However, I wish to distinguish between "fans, supporters and enthusiasts" and "fanboys". Fanboys are the type of rabid supporter who can never see any fault in the company and they take it personally when anyone comes along who says anything that could be construed as a negative comment about the company. It can even be just a legitimate question about stock status or availability. Fanboys will take that as a slight upon the company that created the forum. These are usually the same people who have thousands and thousands of post on that forum and consider themselves "gods" of the bulletin board in question and they reign supreme.
I just had such an experience in the HobbyKing forum. Never again will I venture there. They are filled with fanboys who defend HobbyKing to the point of casting a negative light upon the company and pushing customers away. I see this sort of thing over in the "other" forum as well. People who have absolutely nothing to do with MotionRC, come to their defense in such a way as to be abusive and offensive. This does not shine a good light upon the company. On the most part, Motion staff tend to act with decorum in such circumstances and use a tremendous amount of diplomacy. That's good to see. No matter how good a company is, there will always be someone who is disgruntled. How they are treated on a public forum reflects to some degree upon the company. Don't be too quick to judge them as "trolls" or sh!t disturbers. No matter how unsatisfied they are now, they are still future potential customers. Don't be bad "ambassadors" for MotionRC if you truly are a fan and want to support them. Be a "fan" but don't be a "fanboy". Let's support MotionRC in a dignified way, in a diplomatic way, even in the face of abject discontent.
    OK, rant over.

I hear you, sounds like just about any hobby or sport doesn't it. I'm from Canada so when I say that you can knock the bible, butcha better not knock hockey to a Canadian hockey fan, I'm sure you know what I mean. Look at the Ford, Chevy and Mopar guys. Dyed in the wool rabid supporters all. Football, same thing.
It seems to be some twisted tribal instinct to me.
But, you're right, some people seem to take it way too far.
I've had my run ins with Motion, but that was what reinforced my 'liking' of the company, the way they handled it. I'm sure Mark and Tom would love to sit back and say, "Wow, our company is perfect, nothing else to do hear!" but I'm sure that's not the case and they'll probably guffa when they read that.
To me, its a matter of dealing with a company that satisfies my needs, I'm sure others would as well, but I've found one that works well for me, so that's where I turn first.
A rabid Motion R/C fan, no, but a proud Motion R/C customer, for sure.

I'm not a fanboy I hope. I do get most of my stuff from Motion but still support the Hobbie Shop where I got my first planes from. Most of the planes now come from Motion except some eflite stuff because the local shop carries them. It appears that Motion is at the top of the list for customer support but they don't carry everything so one may have to purchase some things else where it's never good if one business has too much control of the market then things get out of hand as we see with some other brands.

I always buy from MRC, unless they don't have what I want. I then go to Tower Hobbies. Both companies are, by far, the best. Doc
