  • Best Films or Documentaries About Aircraft?

    Hi everyone,

I’ve recently become interested in films and documentaries that feature aircraft, experimental aviation, garage-built airplanes, or the people behind them. I’m especially looking for movies that go beyond just showing airplanes on screen and actually capture the spirit of designing, building, testing, and flying something created by individuals rather than large manufacturers.
I’ve already come across a few titles that seem related in one way or another:

Films I’ve seen or found so far:
    The Spirit of St. Louis
Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines
    One Six Right
    The Blue Yonder
    Amelia

Some of these focus more on early aviation or classic flying, while others seem closer to the experimental and personal side of aviation. What interests me most is finding films or documentaries that really show the builder mindset - problem solving, craftsmanship, persistence, and the satisfaction of getting an airplane into the air.
While looking for more, I also found a couple of links that seemed relevant:

Biplane movies: High Road to China (1983), Flyboys (2006), The Blue Max (1966), The Great Waldo Pepper (1975), Aces High (1976), The Aviator (1985), The English Patient (1996), The Red Baron (2008), The Rocketeer (1991), Cold Comfort Farm (1995)

I’d love to hear your recommendations. Are there any films or documentaries that you think really capture the world of homebuilt or experimental airplanes? Lesser-known titles would be especially welcome.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I view a lot of aviation type shows on the Smithsonian Channel, "Air Warriors" is but one of many such shows. I'll betcha if you Google "Aviation themed shows, movies", you'll find more than you could shake a stick at.
