Thrust offset help with an EFXtra

Ok....I motor slammed my efxtra into the earth (as well as my havok, I've only been flying 3 months or so very new new ie mistakes made 😦)

I fixed my efxtra today, mounted it all back into place, is the thrust offset on these supposed to look like this? I am told it's normal by our AI Friends but they are not always correct with what they say...I know the offset is there but can anyone give me a little information please if this looks correct?

Ps: plane is upside down obviously, also I made my plane stand homemade out of a rollable laptop tray...please don't laugh lol...and it's on the box's so it dries

One doesn't have to have an EFXtra to know when something is not right. Thrust line deflection is a fairly typical concept but if you want a more difinitive answer, just Google it ....................

(built-in offset to counteract propeller torque), the HobbyKing (Durafly) EFXtra typically comes with approximately 2° to 3° of down-thrust and 2° to 3° of right-thrust built into the motor mount and firewall at the factory.

(And YES, I used to have one. Actually, I had 2.)

This is going to sound stupid, you guys don't laugh, after he said it doesn't look right, I went back and looked...took my time, remember I'm only 3 months into this Hobby so after looking at it I noticed that the cowl was crooked from the last crash now I did glue it on but I didn't factor in that once it got smashed into the foam, it was pushed back quite a ways on one side so after seeing this it looks like it's offset so bad because of the cowl....it has been pushed in an extra inch on one side. .when I glued it on overnight I think it jumped over the original spot (I used the clear gorilla glue) and it went a ways back the next morning I took pics and shared .... Royally stupid, it's all a learning process for me ...next question?

How can I remove this without to much damage... I gorilla glued the cowl on there so it's pretty tight but it slowly slid down everybody will be able to see it in the images now that I said it you can see one side's farther back which really makes it look like it's crooked more crooked than it is like I said it's a learning experience guys and I learned that's for sure

Smushed foam can be returned to almost it's original shape by putting it into very hot, almost boiling water. Remove any electronics that may get wet first and if you can the plastic cowl.

Great price. If it wasn't for shipping being so exhorbitant from Cali, I'd get a 3rd one. My last plane was from Banana (same city of origin) and the shipping/fees ended up almost $300.00.

I wish I could trust hobbyking enough to order for them again...once I get around to it I'll post the entire PayPal dispute I had with hobbyking....and get this I used my fiances CC for the order (fathersday gift) they wanted IDs and even her SS number, well the last 4, this isn't BS lol....PayPal dispute that quickly, they ended up sending the package- efxtra 3 months later....I was so pissed...in the meantime I was so upset I ordered the skynetic havok...also a beast...and yes I face planted this plane also...
I started learning on the havok and the efxtra, face planted both, bought a trainer lol and I have been flying sense, fixing the 2 big boys while I do it...live and learn haha

Yes, I should have mentioned where I am (shows under my username). Cross border shipping has become outrageous. My latest purchase is directly from FlyWing in China. $200.00US for shipping for a fairly small box. That's the norm these days. I often tell new guys who are thinking about getting into this hobby. It's can be a money pit but if you are forewarned about this, you can put it aside and enjoy it to the fullest.
However, despite this, I bought a Catalina from HobbyKing last year. There was a problem with stock in the warehouse they were closing at the time. HobbyKing was very cooperative and gave me a refund without any hassle. When their new LA warehouse opened and had stock, I bought it again and other than the horrible shipping cost, there was no problem with the transaction. I've never had any problems with HobbyKing purchases. As you say, things can get complicated when there are inconsistencies in the purchase process.
Set up an account with HobbyKing with all the proper details. Purchase using your own PayPal so they can confirm all those details. Many sellers (not just HK) don't like it when your PayPal details don't match your account details, especially when you've got a complaint or problem. When all the pieces fall into place, there should never be any issues dealing with HK.
BTW, a Havoc or EFXtra may not have been the best choice of RC plane to learn on.

XPIVER why not have someone from the forums do it for you that's in the US? Have it shipped to a trustworthy person then have them ship it to you would that be cheaper? Sorry if that sounds like an idea that's off the wall, would it be the same if someone from the US shipped it to you than from China? Just a thought!? 🤔 Have it sent to someone in the US then have them ship it to you maybe cheaper than the outrageous prices you have to pay....that's so crazy

Well, at least you're thinking outside the box. I've been in the RC hobby for over a decade now and I've looked into every angle there is on this shipping thing. Shipping costs have sky rocketed in recent years, not just for private individuals but for all sellers of products in RC. Many, many products come from China. Container shipping has escalated. Air shipping has escalated, including postal service. Then there's couriors like UPS, FedEx, where not only has shipping cost gone crazy in cross border shipments, but brokerage fees have gone insane. Then, let's not even get into the topic of tariffs.
Anyone (private) in the US that I can get to buy a product for me would be subject to the same issues as any seller like HobbyKing. They would have to pay the same high price of shipping it across the border to me. They would also be subject to the same declarations as any commercial seller and when it gets to me, I'm still subject to the same brokerage fees from the carrier used. Sure, I can have it sent to a warehouse to a border town and I could drive down and pick it up and bring it home. I'd have to pay the warehouse a fee to recieve it and hold it for me. When I cross the border to come home, I still have to declare it and pay whatever taxes and fees assessed (No, I don't want to be a smuggler). Then there's a whole day of my time, the use of my vehicle, fuel, etc. In the end, I'd rather just pay the $200.00 to $300.00 bucks, but only if I REALLY want it. And for something like an EFXtra, I've had them before, so I don't really want another one now.
PS. My last one was converted to 6S, but I couldn't justify flying it for only 1.5 minutes, so I gave it away.

Trump didn't help anything with shipping either I'm sure...but dad always told me "son, when making friends or acquaintances never get political, it can ruin allot of things" so I won't get into any of that lol...but this is crazy...if I were such a 'law abiding citizen' RC smuggling might pay off better than the cartels soon (joking Evan and viper lol just joking...🤗)
