U-2 down in NorCal

U-2 out of Beale AFB crashed this morning near the Sutter Buttes Mountain range in Nor Cal. No word yet on condition of crew.

That's terrible. I hope they managed to get out.

One crashed in Oroville in '96- killed the pilot and 1 person on the ground. Witnesses say they saw 3 parachutes (2 for crew, 1 for equipment). Started a fire and we have some wind today. Not good.

No, certainly don't need any more fires out there. And, I hope they landed clear of it.

Shortly before 1 pm local time Sgt. Charity Barrett of Beale AFB confirmed one crew member died.
