I really like installing my own receiver... That way I know what I am getting and many times not stuck with a Park Receiver.

Woah -- pulled up this page from the index & the 2 middle boxes are already checked. ???

I didn't read the other comments & this might've been mentioned but, I don't see what's probably the most prolific offering by almost every other company - 'ARF'. Of course, in usage I know different companies have differing interpretations of what that consists of.

What I don't understand even moreso, why does a company Search for ARF produce mostly replacement parts? Example, first hit is 'Great Planes Rifle EP ARF Decal Sheet'. This suggests the decals on the ARF version are different somehow. Also, the first plane shown from the search is 'Great Planes Cosmic Wind Red 915mm (36") Wingspan - KIT '....not an ARF by ANY company's standards, so why does it show up in the search at all??

So as a newb I want to fly with the equipment I have as efficiently as possible. Following Pilot Ryan and Capt.Mike I purchased a Champ and now own a Trojan ultra micro also. BNF for me.

I like kits the best but will do an ARF when time is slim. As a rule I always like using my equipment and electronics. If nothing else radio and rx at minimum.

Greetings Gang,

I remember the days when I just couldn't wait to open a brand new box of sticks, pull out the pin-board, lay out the plan/template sheets and go to work. Sometimes months later I'd walk away with a bird to be proud of. These were KITS... There was no airframe and such until you created them.

Admittedly, those days are pretty much gone.... Although I'll occassionally build from a box of sticks, it's strictly for nostalgia. If there is a model that I'm really drawn to and it's only available as a "kit", like the Predator UAV RQ-1 or the EPS 1701-A Starship Enterprise then I go that 'project' route.

Today, I want to spend the majority of my time flying!! Give me PNP, BNF all day long!!
With multi-plane programmable TX's and devices like AnyLink available, it doesn't matter what's in the pit....
It's Fly Time!!

Hey, we're a microwave society..... I want to fly and I want to fly now......

Motion RC has something for everyone!

ARF and kits. Kits are great because they give you something to do with all of your spare parts from those unfortunate hard landings. "Crashes"

For my two cents worth, RTF in the Summer and Kit form in the winter. Nothing like a lot of frustration to deal with in the bad weather!!

I've only had experience with the PNP. But this will be my first winter since getting hooked on RC flying....Thinking a kit now for long winter evenings/weekends....

PNP, ARF. One day I will build a balsa kit again, last time I did that was 30 years ago as a kid we used to be able to buy balsa models for $10.00. The last one I built was a B-17G. They were all coated with tissue and resin; and none of them flew, but darn they looked good hanging from the ceiling!

Most definitely ARF, foam, and electric. I'm becoming addicted to painting my planes or adding my own special touches. I made decals for my Beaver that had a fictitious wildlife guide logo with my name. I pretty much stick to the same electronics too..Spektrum 6/7 channel, and Hobby Eagle Gyro' s in each.

Hi guys!
I am with you about this RTF's are only good for beginners who would like to see if they will like the hobby. Those radios they offer are so basic and inferior the feel the gimbles are cheap. Their is no way I would even think of using in any of my expensive planes. Plus they are only good for one plane only no adjustments for dual rates. PnP and the new kit+ I feel is the way to go at this point.
