RE: Is using a gyro cheating?

    Greetings Gentlemen,

It is/was NOT my intention to initiate a debate on the virtues of using gyro's fore or against.
If you use them have at it. Again, I believe them to be beneficial.

I am very familiar with the operational concepts and differences between auto-pilot and auto-correction.
It is to the latter that I was referring. No more, no less.

RE: Is using a gyro cheating?

It seems that most everyone agrees gyros are beneficial for those days when you just might not go flying because the winds are a bit too much for your personal comfort zone. The optimum word being 'your' comfort zone. Hey, I'm not too proud to admit that I'm not pilot enough to fly in any condition, or that I can handle my planes like pro. I'm certainly far from it. I'm just an old duffer that gets really excited if I can go around the flight pattern and land without having to do repairs. That $24 gyro really gives me that extra comfort level, ( if I do desire to use it), so I can spend more time outside flying. Technology is great, let's embrace it and enjoy what it can do.
