If your B-17 is a 6-ch plane, get one of the 6-ch stabilized Lemon or Admiral RXs with gyro. You won't have auto level. If you need more channels, then get the 8-ch or 10-ch RX. It won't have a stabilizer in it but you can get a HobbyEagle stabilizer that has the gyro and auto level (if you really want it).
Besides being expensive, the Spektrum AS3X RXs need to be programmed if you just buy a blank unit. For that, you need a smart phone app and the cable. However, programming one to your needs is not simple or straight forward and can involve many, many steps where there are multiple places you can screw it up and lose your plane. You can't just pull it out of one plane that's already programmed to work because the next plane you put it into may or may not fly properly with the same programming.

PS. For future reference, it's really not necessary to start the same thread in different sub-forums. People see all of this forum (new topics and posts) and will see it no matter where you put it. Just pick one.

;) Also known as thread spamming which is counter productive to basic forum protocols

The easy way to program your AS3X Rx is to get the PC cable. simple menus ,easy peasy.

It's only "easy peasy" IF you understand what "head gain" is, how much to dial in (%) to start and what "priority" means and does. Many people don't know what these things are. Some people don't even understand what "Flight mode 1, 2 and 3" means and where to find it and how to select it. For some, it's easy to hook up the cable to your smart phone and it immediately talks to the RX. For others, they have trouble with getting the two to talk to each other. It all depends on who you are, how much "know how" you have on all these and many other things that go into programming such devices. By contrast, a simple gyro with gain pots and response direction switches or sub-menus is much easier and simpler at the field to do fine tuning and adjustments.
I had a guy at one of my fields who had the AS3X RXs in 3 of his new planes (blank ones that he bought to install in those planes). He went several weeks without being able to do any programming to any of those planes. At first, he couldn't get them to talk to his smart phone, then he didn't know what to program into each parameter and each flight mode, then he couldn't figure out how to select the modes on his TX. To him it was a nightmare and not so "easy peasy". Those RXs were over a hundred bucks each and they grounded his new planes for nearly 2 months. The rest of us flew as he sat there and farted around with planes and pulled out his hair. When he finally managed to get some numbers in and he let one of the "experts" fly the plane, it was nearly uncontrollable. He landed it and then spent the next 30 minutes messing with it and still couldn't get it to do what he wanted.
I've programmed a couple of these receivers and I was lucky and got them going fairly well with only a little fuss but I'll never buy those things again when I can get a simple Lemon RX with gyro or non gyro and a HobbyEagle for a fraction of the cost and no fussing.
