What is the absolute best gyro for a beginner on a 6channel plane

  • #2
There is no "absolute" best gyro. It all depends on what you want it to do and how much you're willing to spend. It's like asking, "What's the absolute best RC airplane out there?" It's a loaded question and one for which each person has a different answer.
If all you want is for it to help stabilize your plane in wind, then the cheapest 25 buck gyro like HobbyEagle is just fine. In the same class of gyro, there's the Freewing gyro - very simple and effective. If you want it to "come home" or do heading hold, there's a gyro for that. If you want it to save your plane when it gets "out of control", there's a gyro for that. The most expensive ones cost over $200.00 (EagleTree) and will do all kinds of things. It likely costs more than your plane. Do you need or want one of those? Then you can run the gambit of gyro stabilized receivers like the Spektrum AR6xx (needs smart phone APP or PC) series or the Admiral 600SP series or the Lemon stabilizer Plus series or the flight controllers like FlexInnovations Aura 8 (requires some programming via a smart phone or PC).
