  • Servo making buzzing noise

My servo buzzes when I input full up or down elevator/aileron, my plane uses elevon set up(F-8 Crusader). Is this sound ok or did I damage the servo.

Buzzing is usually caused by binding (load) or resolution. If it only buzzes at extreme throws that is pretty normal unless they are buzzing all the time at rest. If they are buzzing at rest and you are using Spektrum try changing resolution. You may already be at 22ms. Maybe try 11ms and see if that helps or vis versa.

I have large scale sailplanes with high voltage servos that buzz even when at rest....So far so good!

Do I need to center the servos or can I adjust the pushrods to make the ailerons and elevators even.

Its always best to center the servos before attaching the pushrods. You'll do fine adjustments to the pushrods to the control surfaces to achieve even settings, plus it will help while in flight on trimming the plane as you will have enough travel on your trim adjustment. Hope this helps you out.

If the servo travel is more than the hinges allow, you can also adjust the EPA (total servo travel) to less than 100% on those channels. Had to do that on my Cessna 2.1m as the hinges are tight and the Hitec have more travel than the stock EFlite servos and were hitting hard stops on the ailerons.

I recently had one of my elevator servos start to buzz when at neutral. When I moved the stick it would stop then start again at neutral. Then when I flew it the plane was out of trim on the ailerons after a minute or so of flying it went back to normal , very strange. I decided to swap that elevator servo out since it could have been hunting the central position while in flight and causing the plane to go out of trim. I haven't tried flying it again since the fix. Hopefully no more problem. Anybody else experienced this ?

I had that happen with my Dynam Waco on its maiden. On the second flight after I rechecked the trim I almost lost the plane when the elevator was not responding to my inputs. It turns out the brand new servo was stripping. I replaced it and have had no problems. I would replace the servo.
