  • Spektrum AR636 Programming Discussion

Hi Guys, I've been lurking around on these forums for about a year now and never said much... A lot of you may know me as "The RC Air Marshall" on YouTube, or maybe you don't know me at all... If that's the case, hi!

If anyone needs a hand with Spektrum AR636 Receivers, ask away here. I know a guy :)

I have linked my AR636 Programming Series playlist here. It is long, but if there is anything in particular you have questions about, please don't hesitate to ask, and I will do my best

Hi RC Air Marshall. I've programmed several AR636's but nothing out of the ordinary except for maybe differential thrust. My question is I have a twin engine seaplane with differential thrust for on water steering. I would like to have a voice warning to turn off differential thrust once I am airborne. Maybe a timer that activates the voice after a certain percentage of throttle. I am pretty sure it is a mix of some sort but don't know how to do it. Any ideas?
        Thanks

This would be more a function of the Transmitter than the AR636 Receiver... What Transmitter are you using?

There's a couple of ways I've found to pull it off, but there may be a more elegant solution. I use an iX12 as my daily driver and can get exactly what you're looking for with the iX12. I do have a DX6 running Firmware v2.05 which should be close to your DX9. Because of the fixed voice callouts, there isn't a lot of options. You basically get what they have available.

The two methods I have found so far...

              1) Set up a countdown timer on Timer 2 that is triggered by your throttle stick. The minimum countdown timer is 10 seconds, so that's what I used was a 10 second timer. I set it to activate when the throttle goes above 70%, and turned off all the notifications with the exception of timer expiration. I also turned programmed it to have a one time activation where as soon as you run above 70% it starts the timer and going back below will not stop it. You do not have the option to set up whatever voice callout you want, so all it says is timer expired. Resetting the timers by pressing the clear button will reset this timer and give you an audible callout of timer expired 10 seconds after you go above 70% throttle.

              2) This method isn't quite as configurable but you can use whatever voice callout you want. Set up a custom voice alert and use the sequenced option. Set up the sequencing on your throttle stick. Set the position to high throttle, and 1 sequence. You can then go into the sequence and set up any voice alert you want. The only one I have found that makes sense in your scenario is "Rudder"

Option 1 to me seems more in line with what you're looking for. As I mentioned, with an iX12, because it uses the Google Text to Speech engine built into Android for it's voice alerts, you can type in exactly what you want it to say. So I can set up a countdown timer for 5 seconds that says Disable Differenetial Thrust at the expiration, for example.

Dam718.......Thank you so much for the information and taking the time to help with my problem. I used method two because I made a custom voice call out to tell me to shut of differential thrust. This worked perfectly. Thank you so much
