  • Admiral RX600SP and OpenTX (Radiomaster TX16S) -Stabilisation not working

    (RESOLVED)

    Hi,

I need some help with the RX600SP.

I have the RX bound to the TX and all control surfaces work as expected however the stabilisation is not working.

When powered up both the red and green LEDs are flashing extremely fast (could be considered permanently on) which from the quick start guide suggests that the gyro is switched off. This appears to be confirmed by moving the model quickly which should get a response from the control surfaces to counteract but there is nothing.

I have gone through the setup procedure numerous times, read through the threads I can find and watched the Motion RC setup videos while trying both combo A and combo C without any success.

Just for clarity I am not trying to set up the recovery mode at present but just want the 'gyro on' mode to work.

If anyone has any suggestions or can point me in the direction of any relevant resource it would be much appreciated.

Where are the gain pots set? Got a clear, close up picture?

Here is a picture, the gains appear to be set at 50%

I've just realised my mistake, J6 dip switch was on.
switched that off and it appears to be working ok.
I obviously needed a break and to look at it afresh.

        Thanks for your response xviper

I bought an admiral rx600sp to use with my Lippish p.15 edf jet. Big mistake. This isn't my first stabilizer... I use the zohd kopilot, pixhawk, and the rmrc 600mm and 900mm flying wings with onboard stabilization. The surface control behavior with the Lippish p.15 was spot on and I had gains turned down to 30%. Takeoff was fine, until a 15mph wind gust. The stabilizer was oscillating and the model was twitching out of control resulting in a crash the destroyed the nose, tail top end of the fuselage, starboard wing... A mess. I will try to rebuild it and install my spare zohd kopilot.. I need to build up the edge of the wing. Hopefully the rebuild goes well.

I will not recommend the admiral rx600sp to anyobe right now.

Horizon hobby should have a chart of recommended gain setting for the models they sell. 30% should have been ok.. it was ok in no wind but the reason why I use it is my club's airfield is along the coastline and the wind does gust over 17mph.

I'm a big fan of the Kopilot myself but wanted something with just 3 axis stab. I run OpenTx and have not been able to program the switch to operate with this Spektrum based RX so will have to turn the gains down and cross my fingers

I have the Admiral in my Lippisch with no problem. On my maiden I did crash, but it was all my mistake. I had the gains way too high and crashed the same way you described. I rebuilt my Lippisch, turned the gains to about 10 or 11 o'clock and now I h've had many successful flights. Its my go to plane even when the leaves on the trees are dancing around all crazy.
