  • Eagle Gyro with glow engine???

    Hi guys, I don't hang out here too much because I don't have any electric planes however I just finished a new biplane (Waco) with a very light wing loading and a gyro might help. Please forgive my ignorance, can a gyro be used with a big vibrating engine? (.91 four stroke single). Obviously there is no ESC, how does it get it's power? Any advice is appreciated. I would be using it with a Spektrum 4 channel antenna-less receiver. The plane flies like a big old *****cat but she blows around in windy conditions, not heavy enough.

    Really??? Somehow a reference to the old family cat is now offensive???!!! That is sad:(

      It gets it's power from your onboard battery powering your receiver and then through the gyro to the servos. Mount it with some thin double back foam.

            Shouldn't. That is the purpose of the foam pad mounting.

                yes, it can cause issues! this is out of the manual for the A3S4 gyro. under advanced settings.
                Gyro Digital Filter
                This function is used to setup the cut-off frequency of the hardware low pass filter of the gyro. Reducing
                the frequency can significantly reduce the interference of the vibration from the fuselage. By testing, the
                default setting DLPF_20Hz is fit for most electric airplanes. Appropriately decrease it when the vibration
                is strong, it is recommended to choose DLPF_5Hz when using the gyro on a nitro or gasoline airplane.
                Please note that a high cut-off frequency setting may increase the power consumption and cause heating
                of the servos.​
