  • Thrust Reverse Help

I will readily admit, I am far from being an expert on setting up my radio. I can do basic things like adding a new plane to it, but other than the basic programming, I don't know. I'm trying to add Thrust Reverse to my radio and don't follow the video motion put out a few weeks (months) ago. The video is using a Futaba radio, I have a Spektrum. I don't want to put it on my gear channel and I'm not following what I need to do. According to the video, I just plug it into an empty channel and Voila!

I have the new version of the Freewing F-16, that in theory has thrust reverse. I have a NX-10 radio with a Spektrum 8 channel, AR8020T receiver and I want it on the "G" switch. Currently I have the lead for the thrust reverse plugged into channel 8.

What do I need to do to make this work???

Go to channel assignment and assign switch G to channel 8. Should be that easy.

You would think it would be that easy - but it doesn't work. That's what's causing my confusion. I plug the reverse thrust lead into Channel 8, I assign ch 8 to switch G. flip the switch, still "normal' thrust. There has to be more to it since just assigning a switch doesn't work.

If you look at your radios monitor screen in the switch moving the setting? And the yellow wire is a signal wire so it goes in the receiver a certain way.

It is "that easy" if its connected up properly and the transmitter has the switch (and only the switch) sending signal to the correct channel.

On my NX, "G" is a 3 position switch. What do you think should happen in the center position? Seems like a strange choice to me.

You could always try plugging a servo into RX port 8 and see if it responds to switch movement.

Have you got anything else, such as a mix or a flight mode, sending input to channel 8?

And as Evan wrote, make sure the plug is in correctly.

So in addition to assigning the switch to a channel you need to go into "Digital Switch Setup" in the main menu and put a "value" in the switch position. My "value" is zero, I believe this is true for all the reversible escs from Freewing.. FYI, I have my thrust reverse set on a 3 position switch. Position 1 is set for normal throttle, positions 2 and 3 enable reverse. I then have a mix of "throttle to throttle" enable by position 3 where the throttle goes to %100 . This is like a thrust reverser on a switch. Hope this helps.
For normal function the value is "-100" For reverse the value would be "0".

I am not clear what mixing "throttle to throttle" is achieving here.

Sorry for the confusion.Position 1 is normal esc. Position 2 enables reverse and controlled by the throttle. Taxi reverse.
Position 3 allows reverse at full throttle regardless of throttle position. I find it counter intuitive to “ throttle up” when I need braking after landing.
