JR transmitter and Speckrum receivers

I am currently fly a JR8103 with a Spectkum module for DSM2 on 2.4 mH. I have a JR 9303 with a Speckrum module DSMX module on 2.4 Question??????
why won't the 9303 with DSMX bind to the Speckrum A400 DSM2 receiver............the 8103 does?

Is it as simple as only a dsm2 will bind to a dsm2? the module on the 9303 transmitter says dsm2/dsmx. I thought that meant both types.
