DX18 Stopped Working

I was just going to fly and went to turn on my radio and no power at all. I am fairly certain the battery voltage wasn't below 7.4V, but even if it was, would the light not come on at all when you plug it into the wall? I've never drained a radio battery to the point I couldn't get any signal or even the Spektrum logo to light up showing that it is charging before. I will keep it plugged in attempting to re-charge...Any other ideas? Again, I am fairly confident I wouldn't have let it drain down to no power... It's a 2S 2600 mAh and I don't have a charging connector for it on my Hyperion charger so I can't try charging that way.

Appreciate any thoughts.

It's possible the battery took a dump. I normally don't run my DX18 battery below 7.9-8.0 volts.
Try a new battery. Looks like $40.
If that doesn't work probably no other choice then to send the whole thing in. Bummer...

Ugh, I sure hope it's just the battery. I will have to grab a new one and pray that's the issue. Thanks for the info...

First thing I would do is put a meter on the output of the charger. If the charger is dead or not putting out a voltage, no charge will happen. If a dead charger is plugged into the transmitter, draining the battery back through the charger's transformer is possible.

Thanks I never thought the charger itself could be the problem, especially since the radio was working fine and suddenly it just stopped working. Never had that happen before in all the years I've owned Spektrum radios...I'll check into that. Thank you.

It's easy enough to test the voltage of the battery. Have you done it to see what it really is? Also, for some of the complexity on these TXs, I feel the main ON/OFF switch is pretty Mickey Mouse. Try to ascertain if it's just the switch. I've seen several Spektrum TXs where the switch doesn't always make proper contact and you have to flip it a couple of times in a very determined way to make them come on. I have one of those.

I don't have a voltage checker, I will ask my buddy if I can borrow his. I thought about the switch but it's never been a problem before, but as we know that doesn't mean it didn't suddenly decide to become one. Still crossing fingers the battery just crapped out.

Good luck with the new bat., their is nothing worse than being grounded by your radio, especially when you are looking at shipping time for repairs, but I must say I have had absolutely great service with Horizon. My Spektrum was back in 3 days incl. next day ship.

Wow that's good to hear! If it turns out to be worst-case, it's nice to hear the quick turnaround. Without your radio your not flying squat, lol.
