  • Replacing landing gear servo

I have a FMS 1100mm zero. One of the landing gear retracts is stuck in the down position. I have removed the gear from the wing. I need some advice on how to pull the the wires and connector through the wing, then how do I get the new connector back through the wing.

Often these EPO foam wings are glued together trapping the servo wires.
Fortunately EPO is a non-stick material and you can work the glue joint apart.

Once you get the bottom of the center of the wing off, then you can easily get the old wires out and the new ones in.

Sometimes the retracts are not the real problem... I've had some over-crimped Y harnesses with the result being the wire cut right at the plug. If they leave the crimper set for single wire then crimp the contact onto a pair of wires to make the Y it will damage the wires every time. It looks good and passes tests then after just a few flights the wire breaks. Then you have a retract or one aileron or some other single servo out of 2 that doesn't work on the Y harness any more.

Test the retract plugged direct to the RX.
