  • Making Antennas

I recently bought a new Focke Wulf 190 and noticed it had a place for the antenna on the Stabilizer and the Canopy top . The real plane had one stretched across there . I remember reading where Gman56 had used some elastic thread for the rigging on his Waco . I used this and it works great !! Don't have to worry about it ripping or breaking because it stretches.

    RE: Making Antennas

    Greetings Hippie,

    Indeed!

That's the stuff I used to rig my Waco and I also used it in the same way you mentions for the 190's and the Dauntless SBD-5.
It's great for these applications as due to its stretchy nature it remains taught and looks great.

      Arg, I've been out McGyvered!
Way to go Brian, what a great idea.  With it being stretchy, if you removed the batter cover, it becomes a lanyard so the danged thing doesn't blow away on you

      Great thinking my friend!!

        Hey guys,
Couldn't find G56's original writing on this elastic thread as mentioned by H64. Are ya all(or your sweetie) getting it(for ya) at a sewing place say like JoAnn Fabric or someplace like that??

Hey OV10 I found it at Walmart . Website shows it in spools but I found it in 5 yard lengths on small flat cardboard

            Hippie
            Thanx for the Walmart pointer.
Here's one back at ya for acquiring plane supplies at Walmart.
Since we are flying more n more foamies which eventually do need a touch up or a complete makeover, this is where I have found a great savings on acrylic paint. Normally you get a half oz jar at your LHS for like $3 but found that Walmart sells a brand called Apple Barrel in 2oz squeeze bottles in a myriad of colors in flat/gloss/fluorescent for 50cents to $1 per bottle depending on the luster selected. I did my Waco this way which in turn received your guys' accolades which I thank you very much.
