  • Nose Cone Mod Strega

Well its no secrete about the Strega prop mod. Cutting down a 12x12 prop to a 11x12 makes the Strega a 100mph+ bird. This mod requires leaving off the nose cone which makes this vintage aircraft UGLY. After trying a couple after market nose cones, I couldnt find that sweet vintage look, and they just didnt fit well either. So I took that sweet beautiful looking chrome nose cone and and trimmed the blade slots to fit a single blade 12 degree pitch prop and now it looks premo. The dremel tool made this mod a cake walk. Just simply grind the 2 slots across from each other a little deeper and wider and TA DA!!!! The stock nose cone bolts right on and looks great. I also have another chrome dome and 4 blade in stock pile just in case. Cant wait to race it again.

Flew my Strega today with the nose cone mod, WHEW WEEE, Got another 5mph top speed out of her. Pocket radar showed 105mph consistently and hitting 110mph on a couple passes. UNEXPECTED SURPRISE!!! :D

Why not just buy an apc 11x12 prop?

That was my first thought, then I found they dont make one. 11x8 was the closest I could find in stock any where in my hobby store hood.

interesting! I'm gonna be charged $20. shipping for a 4 dollar prop. also a 12 x 12 cut to 11x12 has way less prop flex which creates more speed and stability. Thanks tho.
