To all of our Hobby Squawk community members -
This is a special announcement to let the community know that we have decided to migrate Hobby Squawk over to a new software platform. The reason for this was predicated on the continued growth of the community and for our desire to bring the community a much more powerful, feature and intuitive-rich platform. The lack of a powerful and user-friendly attachment feature for photo-sharing as an example has been an issue that we feel can best be mitigated by utilizing superior forum software.
After some comprehensive research behind the scenes, we have decided to go with forum software that impressive institutions like Sony, EA, NASA, several NFL teams and Pearl Jam use among others.
This is good news all around because one, it shows that the community continues to grow, especially in recent weeks as Motion RC promises to offer exclusive first-rights information, video and photos of exclusive product. Two, it demonstrates our commitment to continue to make Hobby Squawk a fantastic and enjoyable RC electric airplane-centric community backed with powerful, feature-rich software to maximize your enjoyment while you spend your time here sharing information, photos, videos, mods, tips and tricks, etc, with other like-minds within the community.
The software is extremely powerful and is what is known as Responsive Software. Put plainly, this allows the forum layout, look and feel to work on any device, whether it's a web browser, mobile device, smart phone, laptop, etc. This software allows content to be shared and delivered more intuitively using content-specific applications. The Search Engine architecture has also been reconfigured so that all content is easily searched. Rewritten from the ground up, the new search engine should provide more relevant details and accurate results.
We know many of you will have questions and we will do our best to answer them as we make the transition. Right now we are in the beginning phase of acquiring the software and getting it operational behind-the-scenes. Data migration is a primary goal and we will do our best to make this transition as easy as possible for you all.
As of this writing, the tentative ETA is within a week, so likely the first week of February. You will definitely know when the switch occurs as it will showcase a new layout and format. We promise once you kick the tires and light the fires you will see this as a great improvement. We will be working continuously to brand the new software so you know it's Hobby Squawk. The switch will likely be late at night CST to help minimize disorientation and errors that could potentially be generated during higher post traffic times.
We want to sincerely thank each and every one of you for making the need for this transition a welcomed one. This is about creating a better user experience for each and every one of you. We're very excited to watch the continued growth of Hobby Squawk in 2016 and beyond!
Happy Landings!
