  • DX6i Landing Gear Timing - Can It Be Done?

    Greetings Gang,

Does anyone happen to know if/how the DX6i can be configured to slow down the landing gear up and down speed?
    I know that the DX8 has a landing gear timer but, I don't have a DX8, I do have a DX6i.

    Thanks in advance,

    Bill L.

What kind of landing gear? If you have the all-electronic type, they can't be changed with the radio settings.

Re: DX6i Landing Gear Timing - Can It Be Done?

      Greetings WintrSol,

My bad, I suppose I could have been a bit more forthcoming on information.
The retracts I'm wanting to alter the timing of are the 90' pinion gear driven retracts found on the Flyzone Corsair.

I have seen a video on YouTube of this plane where the gear travel speed was manipulated (slowed) using gear timer setting on a DX8 transmitter.

The Flyzone default travel speed is quite snappy as you can see in the MRC product video.

I realize I could use a circuit speed controller to accomplish a slower travel speed, it just seemed cleaner to be able to do it through my DX6i transmitter if possible. It may be a feature that wasn't available until the DX8.

      Thanks,
      Bill L.

        Bill,

You can't change retract speed with the DX6i.
Wanted to slow down the flaps/retracts on my A6 but couldn't, so that was the excuse needed to upgrade to the DX8. Am much more pleased with that units capabilities.

          Greetings CB,

Yeah, it took me a while to accept that the DX6i couldn't help me with
altering my LG servo motion speed.

I suppose there's always the ever faithful OOOPPS! And blame the rest on
          gravity.

          Then it's "Hello, DX8"!!

          Just a thought...

I'd be interested in how the servo speed function operates once you've had a
chance to work with it, if you wouldn't mind?

          Thanks

          Bill L.

RE: DX6i Landing Gear Timing - Can It Be Done?

            Bill,
Servo speed function works awesome. My flaps now come down at a slow rate on the A6. No more need to go and buy specific slow drive flap servos. Without running to fetch the manual, I believe the total delay can be upwards of 15 seconds. I set a five second time and that works for both the first and second flap positions. I set the flaps @ 15 degree 1st position and 30 degree 2nd position. That's a total of 10 seconds if I go from 0 to 30 degrees. Great control surface movement without radical/instantaneous changes to the planes attitude. Heck, sell that DX6i at your club for a $100(I did) and move up to the DX8. I snagged mine at a LHS for $250 new :)

Man, that's too much good news!!!

That's excellent that the timing can be adapted to multiple setting.

              I gotta have one!!

Oh no!!! I was holding my Dx6i in my hand while I was typing this and I
              accidentally dropped it!!!!!!

How's that sound??? Nah, my wife would never buy it...

I'll have to start checking around.

              Thanks,

Ok Bill, here's what you have to do... ( looking around and making sure she's not in the room!)

First, you have to get her hooked on flying RC, no easy task I'll admit, but possible......
Then, graciously, offer her your DX6i, all set up for her mind you, and then, well, you need one as well.
"Look Honey, this is the one I think I should get....."
                voila
                Christmas Time in Rocketeer land!!

                  Greetings G56,

                  You. Are My New Hero!!!!

She just yesterday mentioned that Christmas "is just around the corner".

                  "Operation, DX8" goes into effect...... 3.. 2.. 1.... NOW!

                  We should synchronize our calendars!!!

We'll back here December 26th to compare notes.

If the Christmas mission fails, there's always my birthday on the 29th as
                  a fall-back plan!

Clear Skies (and slow smooth landing gear)

                  Bill L.

                        Greetings CB,

I was wondering, do you know if the new 2014 version of the DX6 with 250 model memory offers the servo speed timing function?

Still searching out a DX8 deal but thought I'd ask in the mean time.
