This has been an ongoing issue for several months and we have contacted forum Support to figure out a solution. No it's not anything you did wrong, or any sort of infraction. We apologize for the inconvenience.
This was the response we received:
The members think they are logged in and the server thinks they are logged out. Their server session will expire after 15 minutes of inactivity by default. Activity is loading pages and sending new posts. So if they load a long page and are reading it (or do something else and come back to it) then when they click to retrieve the next page the session on the server could be bad. The issue shouldn't be apparent on topics that guests can view. The system would create a new guest session and carry on. The fix is to log in again clicking the link provided (If you refreshed the page your name should disappear and the login link should appear. In 5.3.2, we will be introducing Inline Authorization so they should be able to log back in on the same page without losing content.).
Users should use the Remember Me function when logging in to remain logged in between extended page views.
We're working on a solution that would allow users to login on the same page and not lose their place.
