This got me thinking about the Viggen foam board kit again. It is the only scratch build I would currently consider. Plus its the only EDF available of a an AJ-37 Viggen. But I am hesitant to get it because I know I would end up putting too much money and time in to it than its worth.

Maybe this manual is of interest, albeit it is a "park flyer". It's in German, but has many pictures and a drawing showing the individual parts. The kit is available here for 29,50€€ Euros.

The same shop offers a Viggen, kits made on request only (fuselage milled from EPP)

Btw: if someone likes to scratch build an EDF Viggen:

Thanks, The bad weather here is driving me nuts!! I need to unleash the creativity!!
In an ideal world i'd like a eurofighter in a similar scale to that of my UMX F16 and MiG 15. so I may start twin 30mm edf or a single 50mm?

I've had 2 of these. Both flew exceptionally well. Unfortunately, flying them through the winter seasons was bad on the paper covering of the foam board. My third venture into the FT Viggen was buying 2 kits and trying to make a twin Viggen. That one proved unsuccessful. It just wouldn't launch straight and I gave up on it. One day, when I'm really bored, I'll do another single one. The kits are quite reasonably priced and Flite Test is a good outfit.

If you don't want the paper, hit it with a mist of alcohol, you can peel the paper right off.

I've used water with good results on the Dollar Tree foam board. Like skinning a rabit.

The foamboard that Flite Test uses for their kits needs the paper. Without the paper, the remaining foam alone is too weak. Once too much of the paper comes off, the plane is too flexible and can break easily.

Agreed. The design is based on the foam board having the paper.

That is why I can't see myself investing too much on a scratch build that is not going to be durable in the long run. I am just going be patient and wait until Freewing makes a Viggen in at least a basic 70mm EDF.

Don't they make water proof foam board for many of the Flight Test kits? I thought I heard someone say that. Since I am winging it on mine I am building without the paper but it is also built differently to accommodate that.

If you get a company to print the vinyl covering for the FT Viggen then wouldn't that make it more resistant to water? or remove the paper and replace it with vinyl to bring back the strength.

Yes, the foamboard in their store is water resistant: https://store.flitetest.com/flite-te...adams-25-pack/

Yeah I knew that about the ft models. I normally just seal my foam board. Seems to work ok
