I am buying another plane, I am tossed between the T-28, and the FW190. What are your thoughts? I want so many planes just deciding what ones to buy first! I will never buy anything under 1100mm again, With that said I will listen to suggestions. I don't want another mustang yet, yes I was looking at "Old Crow" but I want more of an variety of planes. I hear the T-28 is a kitten, not so much about the 190. Then again there is the 109... So many choices!!! Please help me decide!!!
    [hr]
I went with the T-28. I will get the others next month.

You'll like the T28. Did you get FMS? Check out our mod vid. Many folks would agree that stock battery location is bad news. We did Flight Reviews on the RED and WHITE and the Grey one as well. Good times great plane. It's heavy which makes it feel realish in the air.

No for the first time in a long time I went with something other than FMS, I got the Dynam 1270mm (50"). Do you know of any issues with battery placement on this plane? I went with Admiral 2200mAh 3S 35C batteries, do you know projected flight times? Oh and thank you MRC!

        Hi Sean
Shove that 2200mah battery all the way forward. It should balance out that way. If its anything like mine, it will still seem tail heavy. I was advised to shim the top of the motor to give it a 3degree downward thrust. That helped tremendously. But even with that, it still feels like its dragging it's a**
The plane is very stable in flight, but if your going to do maneuvers, you have to plan for it and get a running start.

Definitely not a plane your going to tear the skies up with

        Just my 2 cents

Unless they have changed the design, there is no cooling air for the battery - I made holes in the firewall, opened gaps in the fake radial engine, and cut exhaust ports in the bottom of the fuse behind the wing. Also, it flies much better on 4S with the stock prop, but you'll need a bigger ESC. I first flew with a 3S 2600mAh battery, and it took some runway to lift off; once in the air and the gear retracted, it was OK, just not warbird-trainer OK. BTW, with the stock prop on 3S it is only ~80 Watts per pound, not exactly warbird power levels. I now fly mine with a 4S 4000mAh battery; it will draw about 42A static with that, so choose your new ESC well. You will be pleased with the upgrade; at about 180 W/lb, it now flies like a warbird!

thanks wintr! I just happen to have 4s batteries, I guess I should have waited to order the plane until I got some advise on what I would need to upgrade her, wonder If Motion would let me exchange the batteries I ordered for 4s before they ship it. Looks like I will be shooting off an Email.

According to my tests with 3S batteries, a Master Airscrew 11x8x3 prop will yield ~100W/lb and peak at just over 30A, but it's hard to fit a spinner over it, and, if you can find one, an EMP 11x8.5x3 will provide nearly 130W/lb at just over 39A peak, and fits the stock spinner with minor mods. It does fly better with the EMP prop on 3S; I just prefer the pulling power and speed of the 4S.

Carefully measure the down thrust angle of the motor; out of the box, mine would pull up more than expected when the throttle was advanced, after trimming for ~70% throttle. Mine came with about 1.5 degrees down, and the Navy says it should be 5 degrees, so I added some washers behind the mount, to get closer to 5, and now it doesn't pull up from throttle alone, just what is expected in climb from higher speeds.

Unless they changed the design, three magnets hold it, once you first remove the prop.

I have a big issue and I do not know what is causing it. My plane will not power up with 3s batteries, if I plug in a 4s battery it works fine. With 3s it does not power up my receiver at all. What could cause this? I also do not have the 850kv motor I have the 890kv in my plane I dont want to pull the front of the plane apart to see what ESC I have, I may have to. I do not get why my 3s batteries will not work but my 4s do, this is boggling my mind.

That is very odd - the BEC is not starting at the lower Voltage, so that sounds like a defective one. BTW, because of all the servos, and retracts, I added a separate BEC and split the power, so the BEC in the ESC powers the retracts and flaps, and the separate BEC powers the primary controls. Of course, yours would first have to function properly. (I have an ET Guardian in mine, so making the split was easy.)

Nice to know they upgraded the motor, as it needed it. Mine was said to have the 850kV motor, but the value printed on it was BM3715-KV820, so 820kV. So, if yours is actually 890kV, you're starting with ~25% more power.

OK-I am sure you have already checked this, but did you go back and check the connections into your receiver? Make sure all the signal wires are on the same side, and ground wires are on the ground side. I know, basic stuff, but it has caught me before and did some strange things relative to the ESC working.
