  • Has anyone else done this? My first sizzled and smoked battery

I have a dual charger that works great.
Recently, I purchased a multi adapter for charging; it has a whole bunch of different adapters all on one harness.
As I was charging my 4000 mah battery on one channel, I went to hook up my 800 mah on the other channel, and by accident, hooked it up to the same channel and harness as the 4000mah battery.
Pop! Sizzle! Smoke! and a scream!
Cut power and went to get the fire extinguisher but both the smoke had stopped and no flame.
The deans connectors fused together and the wire for the deans adapter melted a little bit.
Upon separating the deans, looks like it damaged the pin on the battery side.
Lesson learned....when using multi adapters be careful not to get lost in the jumble of wires.
Also, hook both batterys up at the same time to the charge, do not connect one while the other is charging even if using the correct charging channel.

Wow! Glad it was just a bit of smoke and maybe a quick trip to the bathroom:Straight-Face:. A few weeks ago I had a brain fart and instead of unplugging the battery (6s 5000mah) from the charge leads I accidentally unplugged the banana leads from the charger and of course, they instantly touched and BAM! No damage to the battery (I hope) but the leads were toast as you can imagine.

It just takes a second of distraction to do some serious damage with these things. I may start to pause the charge on the other 3 channels of my X-4 when plugging/unplugging. Couldn't hurt.

Thanks for posting this as it's a good reminder not to get complacent!

Yeah if you have a couple of squid cables on one of those it could cause a world of pain.:Scared:

I use the "LIPO SAFE BAG" or sometimes my bbq when I'm charging batteries.

A moment of inattention could burn your whole house down. Those multi-connectors are a real bad idea, especially for the inexperienced.
