I agree with you completely, Charlie. It's just that I prefer my trainer to be hand launchable and belly landable in tall grass without damage. My question was to verify that is the case with the Sportsman S+. Driving 10-20 miles each way to one of the club fields for 10-20 minutes of flight time before the batteries run out is something I cannot do as often as I would like. Having said that, I will join at least one local club for all of the reasons you stated. Proper warbirds need to be flown by a proper pilot from a proper grass strip or runway! Being able to fly the trainer in a limited way at home where I can do something more productive than driving between battery charges would only be a bonus. I hope all this makes sense. :)

Ahhh got it and I totally understand the need to keep training those thumbs. Might I suggest also that maybe now it is the time where you make the investment into a multiport charger that can be taken with you and as well as a couple extra batts. I know, it isn't inexpensive to get your power system setup started but believe me that in the long run you'll be glad you did by spending the extra upfront for your maintenance gear.
      Best regards,
