    Gman,
When I removed the Pandora decals. I just started at a corner of the decal, and they pealed right off.  I've never tried to remove any from the Iron Ass.. Thinking since I've done the Minwax coat on her. May be more of a challenge if I ever have to remove any. Didn't have Minwax on the Pandora before I refinished her this winter.

Actually, I had a few coats of Minwax on the Pandora and they came off easily.  I just found a raised corner or something bubbled and lifted from there. Then I caught on to the tape and the windows came off no problem, I just painted them back in.  I'm thinking there'll be no trouble getting the Iron Ass ones off as well.  Fortunately, the paint scheme is pretty similar to Old Crow.  I've be asking about whether they could put out a stock P 51 so we could get the decals we want and apply them.  This is going to be the next best thing.

      Hey fellas and ladies!
Its a beautiful day here in Cody, Wyoming, I was up and flying at 0800 as the sun was just nicely up and no wind.  We had what I call thick air!
Ran 8 batteries through Pandora One for 48 minutes of flight time.  Had one not so great take off (because I almost panicked) got her straightened out and up, no trouble and played in the wind.  Practiced pattern work for the most part, trying to emulate each control movement to get consistent turns and steady altitude.  The old one two three with the right stick (bank, neutral, stick back) Did a few loops and Immelmans for the fun of it as well.
I watched the video I posted (The one of the landing clinic I found on You Tube) several times and man, my landings are consistently good, not trying to brag, but compared to before, yes they are!
I get the Pandora into final with full flaps and back off the throttle all the way, then advance two or three clicks, depending in the wind.  I line her up so she's coming at me and level the wings right after turning into final.  Now its a matter of using rudder to keep her in line and throttle to control her descent.  I turn her slightly out from me (with rudder) and watch that rate of descent like a hawk.  She's over the fence and coming down easily, throttle chopped and she settles in every time.  Soon as she's down, I pull back the elevator to keep the tail on the ground and add a click or two of throttle to keep her straight. You'll notice how the tail wheel likes to hop if you don't add elevator.  Mine will just hop with the wheel full over if I don't add the up elevator.
It's been great to use the school parking lot, so nice to have a wide paved runway!
Takeoffs have really improved.  My biggest problem was in the transition from Old Weedwacker, My Piper Cub which had her rudder being controlled with the right stick.  I caught myself still trying to add rudder with the right stick with the Pandoras.  So I backed off my fingers on the right stick (not right off but light enough to tell the old brain no to use it yet)  to force myself to use the left stick.  That, of course made a big difference.
Still playing around with battery positioning, I have a fair amount of room to slide it forward or back, but it seems that every battery is different, which is the truth when I think about it, I have four 2200 Pro series Admirals and four 2200 regular Admirals.  Anyway, its not a big deal as I can roll the trim in and correct it.
That's the beauty of having three planes that fly the same battery, I can divide them up amongst the planes or fly them all through one and get almost an hour of flight time.  Of course, flying by yourself, there isn't the between-the-flights banter that I would imagine there is in the clubs, so you go through your batteries/flight time pretty quickly.
So the batteries are being recharged and we'll see what the afternoon brings.
      Waco maybe??

      Have a great flight guys

Decals look great Lon.  Jealous Gman, snowing (AGAIN) here in Maine this morning, but it did warm up to 48 this afternoon.  Still too much snow/puddles where I go flying though. I'm retired, but I do work a PT job on Sat/Sun early AM's so I sleep until the afternoons on those days. Better days ahead though.
Thanks for the info on the Callie stuff.  I did watch some videos on You Tube regarding how to apply decals and I see how they work now. I got a couple of LONG stripes to put on the sides of the Tiger Moth so I don't want to screw those up.

Nice day!!! We're going tomorrow. Giving the field time to dry from the snow and rain of yesterday. Those landings were great if it's the vid I'm thinking of GMan...! I watched it several times... :)

You can pick up a lot of info from this as well as a few wise guy remarks!!
Has anyone had any experience with flight metal?  I'm interested in whether there is any signal degradation to the receiver if you use a metal tape covering.  Seems there's a lot of people out there who have applied it to their planes and it looks great, but if its going to endanger the plane, is it worth it?

GMan, one of the guys I fly with has a small C-130 Hercules that he has turned into a tricopter (I know, kinda weird but he flies some crazy interesting stuff) that is wrapped in metal tape. It doesn't seem to cause an issue but he doesn't let it get too far away... I think he has a receiver with a long antenna though that he runs on the outside.

Had a great day of flying with 2 of my sons today here in the Texas panhandle. Light wind 0to 5 mph 65 degrees. We flew 22 batteries on 8 planes and had a blast. Hope all of you were able to do the same.

Hey welcome to the Forum Farm Flyer, great that you and your boys can all enjoy flying!
Burned through 8 batteries this morning in Pandora 2, excellent weather in the 60's with some wind, which you learn to live with in Wyoming.  I think it'd be strange not to have to deal with it.  Flew the first few flights without the gyro on, in others words, handled the wind manually with no trouble, then remembered to switch it on which just made it easier in the sense that you don't have to manually correct.  Where its really great is on landing, especially crosswind.
Got the batteries recharging, but that take a while.  Wouldn't it be great if they came out with a battery that charged as fast as it discharged in the airplane?

Going to take Shangrila over for taxi trials later on.

lol if they could charge that fast we would just burn up the esc's and motors. We rarely get days with less than 10 to 15 mph winds mostly 20+ you have to take advantage when you can.

Hey guys and girls, I got my Autographed copy of "To Fly and Fight" by Bud Anderson today, its a great book and it wll be in my  American Pride collection of other autographed books that are very special to me.
So, I've began to source out some silver, aluminun and chrome colored paint just to see what bonds the best to foam.
The Rustoleum metalic definitely does NOT work so don't wast your money.
Testors Model Master paint does a great job of bonding, but the jars are small.  Small=expensive.
Anyone one have any suggestions or paint that they've tried.
Flyboy recommended a heat resistant engine paint, but he wasn't sure of the color availablity.
I'm thinking of the Metalizer line from Testors as well.

I've been using Ceramcoat metallic silver for touch ups and after fixing dings. I've only brushed it on though. It's pretty thick stuff. 8 oz is about 8 bucks I think.

Just ordered some on good old Amazon. I have a couple more to try out. Have you ever diluted it? I'll be spraying it on so, diluting it will be a must!

Just to change the subject for a moment, I was mentioning on one of the other threads about Pandora Landing gear. As I may have said before, I eliminated the little screws that hold the square plate to the gear pants and epoxy/resined them together. I also wrapped the pants in some colored electrical tape (Walmart) to give them some extra strength. Works well, but wouldn't you know it, caught on to this after my landings have improved!!

Truth be told, I got mine on Amazon too.... LOL! I don't have an airbrush (yet) so I haven't tried to dilute it but it cleans up easy with water so it should do fine. It's very creamy undiluted...

The Pandora gear... That's funny you mentioned it. I too have white electrical tape wrapped on mine (had a crack running up one pant) and I glued those plates too but I used CA. LOL! Great minds think alike GMan... ;)

                                          Hi guy's

I'm new to Jets and Planes and I am sooooo hooked....

I've been a drone flyer for over 2 years now. I like to record a lot of aerial video or fly in FPV mode or autopilot my system with GPS and waypoints and it's been great not always needing a large space to fly I even fly indoors there is real freedom when flying a drone. But it does not compare to a "JET". I recently purchased a mini 3 channel F-22 put it together and took it to the park.

                                          OMG!!!

This was so much fun. Watching my F-22 do a super fast flyby's inverted then get into a vertical climb while spinning I'm super hooked. Yes I crashed and it sheared off the tail 3 mins into my flight but luckily it broke right at the glue joint... glued it and back on while my battery was charging and for a 2nd time I had her back in the air...

It was an awesome 1st experience with flying a jet.

I can't wait till I scale up those 90mm but they may not be big enough for me now  :)

And my F-22 is looking very lonely I want to build a fleet of jets to keep her company... F-15, F-16, F-18, F-35
