Cessna 82" Skylane w OS four stroke Surpass 120

Acquired this hand built airplane from a gentleman who unfortunately no longer could fly.

The engine is literally mint condition. It has insane amount of torque, barely on the throttle and would just pick up ground in the runway.

Has nice built in flaps, all servos work. The outer surface of the aircraft needs to be smoothed out as it has cosmetic peeling, not structural damage.

Will give it a shot at this large scale, and see how it goes. Did a range check, let it ran half a tank, no leaks, no loose bolts or falling parts, servo settings set.

** Do have the cowl, took it off to view everything was sound and tight for flight.

Skylane, nice! When refurbishing older balsa aircraft I always check the hinges, too, to ensure they haven't dried out or cracked. Give that elevator a strong tug! Best of luck on your [re]maiden!

Today was a good flight day...

One of the senior club members flew the Cessna. Its invaluable to be part of a club. Is good to have a second set of eyes who can go over and do pre-flight checks. The airplane flew fine, and the engine idle like a champ w a good top end, not too powerful but good enough for the realistic look.

*I still need to put the cowl, we were making sure nothing was loose etc, especially that front wheel system.

All in all, it flew great, now is to fix the cosmetic issues, and make better servo supports for the flaps. The guy who flew it landed it no problem without them, he said minor corrections needed to be made.

Took a few photos of some of the planes the guys brought to the field today.

Hey Crankestein. Looks like a good find. Unfortunately i think i saw that it had an asp engine in it. I fly a few asps also and they have been very reliable. Ive had to retire 2 of my 91s because there is no longer a way to get parts for them. If anyone out there knows of a place please let me know. Look like a good pick though. Congratulations

I did the OS title on purpose, good eye, yes, it is an ASP.

The engine is in mint condition, runs and idles forever, smooth transition from idle to wot. Its a sleeper engine, plenty of power, the club member did rolls and loops no problem.

The airplane is in storage for now, soon will address the outer skin, possibly put all new digital servos, reinforce the firewall and engine mount, basically make everything more reliable.

For what I want it for, get my feet wet on large scale and fly something different every now and then, its fine w me.
