I haven't noticed much of a difference with or without the pylons. If you were unsure, you could always mount magnets in the wings. Either way, I agree with you that this is a really fun plane to fly.
I glue the pylons on moreso to give me something to rest the model on when storing/transporting it. The gas bags rarely get flown. I prefer modding to a single centerline tank using the Freewing MWS slotted mount set.

Im curious if the wing tank hardpoints hinder the performance of the mirage or make no difference. i have flown it about eight battery packs so far without the the hard points glued in and it feels so locked in and good. nice and juicy slow high alphas that remind me of my extra 300 in the ability to make turns and hold that nose up all day long. it is also one of the few planes that lands well in a crosswind. im reluctant to glue these hardpoints on and find that it messes with the characteristics that i love about this plane. i mean, the only pictures i have seen with these hardpoints attached is on alphas plane.

Thanks for that . Looks like I am going to be £300 poorer but what the heck

If you don't have any issues with the 70mm F16, you certainly won't with the Mirage.Originally posted by Captain Moron View PostI fly off a grass runway ,the runway is cut quite short and is in good condition .I fly the 70mm F 16 and the F 35 off this runway with no problems .Just wonder if the Mirage would be OK off a grass runway ?

I'm glad you like it so far, and I'm certain you'll love it as you unlock its wider flight envelope.Originally posted by tab28682 View PostEnjoyed putting the first two flights on my Tiger Meet Mirage 2000 v2 this past Saturday. Great flying little EDF with an excellent turn of speed. I need to do a little more practicing for the high alpha landing approach, but that will come. I will spend most of the next flight slow flying at high alpha, getting a better feel for it.
One tip is that this bird can fly far more steeply than it wants to land. We included a little scuff tab for this purpose, but I've ground it off by dragging the tailpipe down the runway a number of times! As much as I like flying this bird steep and slow, when it comes time to land, I actually set it up like a normal scale jet, with a flat approach and a mild flare at the end, having long cut throttle and bled off all but the most necessary airspeed with judicious elevator.

Thanks for the advice. It was not a good maiden. I think it was a big mistake to fly it with a 5K mah lipo. Too big and too much weight possibly. I also damaged one of the air intakes on a failed take off and when I did get her in the air she was all over. Really bad. I did two passes and she crashed (wobbling all over the place and pitching up and down all crazy like). Total loss as she went into a marsh! Lesson learned. But on a good point I went and bought the F-22 Raptor and I love it!Originally posted by Quickstop View Post
I would say the answers to your question in order are no and yes. Of course pilot technique comes into play here but with all that thrust it doesn't need much of a roll. Cg for me was right on.
The main thing was to tone down the roll rates....a lot.

If that question is for me, the answer is no... I fly off concrete.... Sorry so slow!! :Straight-Face:

Welcome to Hobby Squawk! I use 520mm and I have the following rates and it flys great and will high alpha to a crawl I'm not using a gyro and it's solid as a rock. This plane has made me a much better EDF pilot, it's helped me learn how to setup a good glide path to bleed off speed and get my nose up on approach for a nice gentle touch down.
Aileron: 40% rate 40% expoElevator: 100% rate 40% expoRudder: 100% rate 40% expo
I also use the Admiral 4000 pro batteries and get a solid 4 minutes.

Guys where saying 5mm for ailerons. Was watching all about it last night. Chris (RC Geek) said, if you use factory recommend rates the plane will become a flying drill bit.Originally posted by Hardway View PostThe Mirage is super sensitive in the roll axis. So with the elevon setup, you need the up and down (elevator), but just a tiny bit of roll (aileron). Factory rates are way too high to start off with.... Can't remember exactly what the throws are

Just don't know what to expect with the delta. I'm one of those that don't have a lot faith in my ability but guys at the field tell me "You're good enough to fly just about anything" LOLOriginally posted by Hardway View PostI have both of them... The Hawk and Mirage are two different animals... Either way, you will have fun!!!

Yes it is. I have never flew a delta wing before. So I'm nervous in that aspect. Granted don't have to go full throttle out of the box.Originally posted by James.MotionRC View Post
I hear you. I have both and love both because they really are different experiences. The Mirage is a small 80mm which I like because it really is a speed demon, but also with that fat delta shape, she has awesome slow flight characteristics as well. Then the Hawk is easily FW's fastest 70mm stock but with it's shape and the flaps she can perform like a sports jet, fly slow and has that nice nose light which not only looks cool, but helps with orientation as well.
Its a tough choice for sure.
Well yea but which one comes first? lolOriginally posted by Hardway View PostBuy them ALL!!!!!!!!!!!! ;):Cool::Cool::Silly:
