To avoid a cheater vent or making the inlets over-sized, the blow-in doors could be made functional or left permanently open. Those 90mm fans might be starving for air. The LX 70mm model has huge inlets. It's almost as if they were going to make the model a twin 64mm.

I have thought of that too. Since that is how the full size was designed it would be more accurate as well. I would try to make them spring loaded initially. They might be good candidates for my 3D printer. An initial quick calculation indicated the intake surface area was greater than the FSA of a 90 but I will need to revisit that issue for sure. The screen over the intakes is another consideration.

Not a whole lot to report as I am still preparing to start the build so just a quick update. The struts have been shortened and wheels fitted. They are ready to go. I am using the wheels from the Freewing A-10 for the mains and a main wheel from the Freewing 90mm F-16 for the nose. The Robostruts are 7/16" for the mains and fit up to 3-1/2" wheels while the nose is 3/8" and fits a wheel up to 2-1/4".
My building surface is made of two 30" wide hollow core doors glued together. They are about the flatest things I could find and afford. I will cover them next with some drop ceiling panels I got cheap from the local Lowe's. They were damaged from open boxes so I got enough to do what I need for a whopping $5. I wanted to use a piece of Celotex but can't find it anywhere local anymore and the ceiling panels are the next best thing. That will give me something soft to push pins into.
These things are flat! At least they are flat enough for my purposes.

Yes actually. I picked up a Trumpeter 1/32 plastic model and dang it is detailed. Beats the Revell hands down. I will have to make some conssessions in the design to make a flyable model but that is OK. I am going to re-draw my plan one more time taking the accuracy of the Trumpeter kit into consideration but at least it's progress. I really hope to start cutting and pinning parts within the next couple weeks.

The other big part of my progress on this was to get my building surface finalized. I had glued together two hollow core interior doors to make them as flat as possible and picked up some damaged ceiling tiles to glue to the doors to make a table. Finally got the rest of the wood I needed to finish it.

have you tried kinkos? you can have a drawing rescaled and plotted on larger format paper.Originally posted by RCjetdude View PostNice! I am stuck at a point of needing to be able to accurately enlarge an 8-1/2" x 11" drawing. Never thought it would be such a pain to do. I have one of those projectors that enlarges and image but it only take a 4" x 4" section at a time...
