One thing I should mention for anyone wanting to do the intake FOD covers. I had to do a bit of sanding to the edges to get it to sit in the intake properly. Not much, just really needed to round off all the sharp corners so they would not dig into the foam.

Very cool !! Strange that the do not remove wording on the FOD covers is properly reversed for each side but not the F 22 Raptor logo.:Thinking:Were those made from Alpha's files?

Looks fantastic Steve. Nav lights, operable canopy, cockpit upgrade and rocket launch bay....all look super cool!! Merry Christmas and I got my wish, the Seahawks won and I ordered the Raptor today.

Hey Steve, that canopy frame looks awesome and, as Tom said, having the hinge design already there is super handy. Looks like you had to shave the foam around the canopy seat area to allow for the frame thickness. I too would love to have that setup when your ready to sell me one. By the way, how did you light up that green sighting mechanism? After seeing how visible that is on the real Raptor, that would add even more realism and just plain bling. Go Hawks!!

Yes, the install of the frame requires shaving some foam away around the cockpit. I then lined the bare foam with 0.010" styrene. The green HUD is not lit up but a piece of green transparent plastic I got from Hobbylinc

On this post you added all the cockpit 3DPUP parts, and later you added more cockpit parts along with the pitot tube and the port intake cover, but there is no file for the starboard intake cover (the port cover could be printed twice, but the F-22 logo will be upside down). Can you share this file as well please?

Hey Tom, I gotta have some kind of idea how it will work so while I am at it I might as well make a few extra parts. You will still have to do the hard part of fitting it all together.

Oh, for sure. Using this printed frame will be so much quicker than making one up from ply, as I have in the past. That the canopy is one piece is an added bonus on this bird as there's no front canopy/ rear canopy joint (or corresponding frames) to deal with.

I also found, for those that didn't know, that the "Snipping Tool", embedded in Windows 10 (and maybe 7) makes for easy capturing of stills from videos, like these from the above.

Steve, that hinging method looks really good, solving the problem of how to get the canopy up and away from the fuse while keeping the hinging strong. When you so kindly offered to make me a frame I didn't realize it would come with engineering solutions too!:Cool:
