Removing the weight in the nose will aid in stopping that from being an issue. I ended up keeping just the fiberglass outer shell and ditching the foam that was in the nosecone. I did glue some magnets back on to the fiberglass to keep it removable. It’s rock solid now... and would require quite the impact to break free.

I can only speak for myselfOriginally posted by djmoose View PostHey everyone, I just ordered the inrunner version. Is there a link to a post with anything additional besides the manual? best CG, throws, flaps mixing? Looks like folks are liking to land with no flaps?
I fly a little nose heavy I have zero issues with both full and half flaps
Can land nice and slow Flair's great no flaps it's a little hot with a long roll out
Unless I have a good headwind then it's a non issue
I have the inrunner version 6s
If I fly balanced with flaps it's a little tippy and slightly tail heavy it tends to float to much then pancake
another thing I set my timer 2:30 land at three and it's close ...
On 5000s
Anything over 300 and its a gamble I'll either hit low voltage or blow a cell
That's mixed throttle most of the flights 3/4
Next time out I'll fly 6000s they fit

Nope, just an overall speed comparison between an F-15 using 4068-1835kV inrunner and the L-39 running an FMS 80. So no need for apples or oranges. :)Originally posted by Phantom View Post
Um...is this an FMS to FW comparison? Or an 80mm to 90mm comparison? Apples to apples, oranges to oranges and all that?

Apples to apples, oranges to oranges and all that?Originally posted by John Bergsmith View PostI put three more flights on the F-15 on Sunday. Balanced at 125mm, it still feels slightly nose heavy. I did some research in this thread and didn't realize they had weight in the nose, so I can get that out and see how it changes the C/G. Speaking of the nose cone, I need to modify it so it's removable, or just glue it on. You barely touch the nose cone and it falls off, I'm surprised it doesn't come off in the air. Other than that, the F-15 flies great on the 4068-1835kV inrunner.
I have no idea of the overall speed, however I do have an interesting comparison. A club member took off his L-39 powered by the FMS 80mm when I was flying the F-15. I was flying at slightly above half throttle, he was at full throttle catching me from behind. Soon as he got close I went to full throttle and pull away from him with ease. We did this several times. Also had a test between an L-39 powered by the FMS 80mm and an L-39 powered by the Freewing 3658-1857kV brushless inrunner, but that's for another thread.

I love it. Glamorous Glennis. Chuck Yeager would be proud.Originally posted by C17loadmaster View PostI’m almost done with the new livery. I had Callie make them a long time ago but only recently started working on it

The landings are a blast!Originally posted by DCORSAIR View Post
Looks awesome, have to say I do miss mine, sold it after several flights to get something else, might have to pick up another one, landings are the best, very scale with that nose high AOA.

It really adds a lot to the jet, the flicker as it turns on/off is awesome. Thanks Chris for making these available.

It came with the nose glued on. Guess I can weight the nose to get it how it needs to be, then glue in some c.f. reinforcement. What glue did you use to attach c.f.?Originally posted by C17loadmaster View PostDid you glue the front section on already? I just did a rebuild of the nose area on mine just to keep that area strong enough to fly off grass with 8S. My first few landings were a learning experience (stock 1550kv) and that section looked similar after not maintaining enough speed on landing a few times.
I had some CF strips that I preinstalled along the sides of the inner fuselage from a few inches before the NLG block. I also wrapped the new nose with Thin vinyl. I removed the nose weight to compensate a bit weight wise. You can add a little upward force to the nose section when epoxying it together with the fuselage to eliminate some of the flex that creates a gap in the canopy latch area.

Is it possible to heat the nose with weight on it to move it? Takes a lot of upward force on the nose to get the canopy to latch. I don't think the latch pin will hold that much pressure.

There was a case where the whole cockpit on the full scale did just that and came apart just in front of the air intakes.Originally posted by John Bergsmith View Post
I had the same cracks around the nose gear mount, and one by the nose wheel door hinge. I had some carbon rod I imbedded in the foam to help strengthen these areas. I made pin holes in the cracks with a T-pin and injected some hysol epoxy I was using on another project. Filled the hole with some spackle and touch up paint. If it cracks again some light weight fiberglass cloth in these areas might help.
The nose is fairly flexible/weak. Ironically the same issue the full scale F-15 developed. This might be the reason for the gap you have.

When I opened the box the canopy was not latched . Could not get it to latch without a lot of pressure lifting the nose. When I got it latched there's still a gap between canopy and fuse. Anybody experience this problem?
