Are you looking at what Sparks at Park Flier Plastics has done? If so it works very well.

If you are looking at the one listed on the sales site it doesn't work well. It effects the CofG far too much.

All the best,

Thanks Konrad. I have too many "belly landers" and was looking for a small EDF with gear.
With the Park Flier Plastic mod I can take off from the runway (concrete). I can also perform touch and goes. About the only thing I can't do is slow taxi.
I love the safety of not having to hand launch. With the 4 cell power set up a hand launch is a bit tricky, but very doable. And with the PFP mod there is no noticeable performance loss, ether from the wrong CofG or the drag of the LG wires and wheels.
I think the MotionRC sales site has a plethora of small 64mm to 70mm jets that aren't belly landers. Some even have retracts at a very reasonable price.
Has anyone fitted their Stinger with the add-on gear and if so, how did it work?
Thanks
The landing gear freewing offers is completely useless. All it does it slow the model down. If you are taking off from a solid surface you should be able to just skid with the skid plates for takeoff and landing. If you are in grass a hand launch would be well worth over gear.

I Have to disagree, i got the gears here from Motion and they work fine. it took 200 feet to take off from neatly cut grass??? but on the other hand i had a 3500kv 4s 2200mah system with a 60 amp ESC and the only difference was top end with gear was 90 and without 110.
Wow that was some time ago , i now only buy big jets that can handle a grass field, the smallest edf i have is a twin 64mm A-10, also with the same EDFs in it
