  • upgraded landing gear F16 70mm

I checked on Motion site and they sell front motor for F16, Type C.

    I have the upgraded version F16 70mm.

The picture shows; (top) is main, noticeable difference how retract is held on the motor. Uaes two side screws. Also is beefier, w the extra brass and pin. Mine cracked from a mole trap at our field, but that is another story (previous created thread)

(bottom item) is the front motor, only one pin and is held by a locking c-washer. I talked to tech support, no help at all.

    *both arw 3.1mm shaft

I checked for other motors from other jets (maybe 80mm, or 4mm shaft motors), but none have a side shot.

    any help w this issue?

I'm having difficulty understanding what your issue is.

The nose gear retract pin is typically held in place by a C-clip because it needs to rotate with the nose wheel.

The main gear is typically held in place with a fixed pin because it needs to be fixed in place and not rotate.

Different retracts for different purposes. Buy the one you need (main?).

      The main is not sold.

I need the main motor. MotionRC sells the upgraded retracts set, but includes only the front motor, not all three.

The Type C is a front retract, only motor sold for the F16 70mm.

There is no main motor... ?!

I'll qualify my statement by saying I don't have this jet, but am trying to be helpful.

I'm guessing you need a Type D, which is for a 3.1mm shaft.

However, for the ~$3 extra dollars, I'd probably just buy the F-16 one that comes with the stock gear leg here and salvage the retract if that's all I needed. I'm guessing they figured it wasn't worth carrying an extra SKU given the small difference in price. More than likely it's the same pin size (3.1mm) and it would be a relatively simple task removing the old and putting on the new if the pin is intact if it's just held in by the two grub screws.

To me it looks like C is for both the nose and mains.

They are essentially identical other than the way the pin is held in the trunnion. The main needs the side holes for the grub screws that lock the pin in place, the nose doesn't. You can't use the one without side holes for the mains, but you can use the main ones for the nose.

After I talked to customer service, and he asked me which jet, F16C performance, he was not able to find the part. Not his fault, the site jumps around and some items are a little shuffled.

I finally figured it out, the performance model, Spare parts Tab, does not have the motor w the upgraded retracts because it is linked to the spare parts of the Plus, standard edf jet and maybe to keep cost down.
The site needs some organization, and probably clearer pictures showing the sides of the motor housing as well.

side note - the main pin holder has more beef (brass), compared to the front motor housing.

The standard mains (non-suspension), has the motor, that is the same as the high performance? possibly... Bought a set of the standard, will update once items arrive.

I managed to somehow fix the retracts w rc shock shafts (that have C-clip ends), sone gorilla tape and ca glue.

Cut the spring two loops to minimize the rebound and added a bb .177 to compensate for the gap.

Gave it a good hot bath to the nose cone, and the results are acceptable. Am no scale person etc, but had some armaments from a F15 64mm laying around and adapted them to the jet.
I thought the tanks were going to overly standout, but in the air they complemented.
Still have to adjust the left wheel, is pulling that way.

Flew nice, saw the forecast and for a winter day, superb. At least Ican get a few flights while the parts arrive.
