    90mm power system in a 80mm airframe?

I've been thinking about feasibility of putting a 3668-1960kv / 120 amp 90mm power system in either an Avanti or L-39 airframe... (or maybe a Cougar)

Anyone done or attempted this? Thoughts?...

Only found 1 other thread on this that didn't get any traffic: F14 soup-up from 80 to 90-105mm EDFs? - Hobby Squawk RC Forum for Airplanes, Boats, Cars, Helicopters, Tanks, and Trucks

There can't be only two of us that have thought about this.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested. :)

I did it to a F-86. I don’t suggest doing it.The swept area of a 90 means you need a larger outlet area. Just plopping a 90 in will probably result in less thrust than going to the newer 80mm 2150.

when I did it I ended up with an old 6 blade 90 outrunner from the old F/A-18E and old Eurofighter. That worked very well. The fan was low power but more efficient than the old 80 in the F-86. It was also lighter weight. Ended up having more power but pulled lower amps so it had longer flight time too.

makes sense. i was thinking restricted airflow into and thru the tunnel would probably diminish any real gain in thrust.

i think it is time for a Zeus. looks like the air intake ports are large, and probably for a reason.

Zeus, Vulcan, what's with the Greco-Roman gods?

How about a Hermes, Athena, Aphrodite, Artemis, Ares?
