New Freewing Me 262 in box has 12 blade fans

I am not complaining, but my new Me 262 was received with 12 blade fans. Assuming the ESCs and motors are stock, is this a problem? My old Me 262 had 6 blade fans.

You got the new, upgraded version. The motors have been changed to run the new 12 blade fan units. Should sound much better in flight then the old one.

Well crap, now I need to buy this plane. The 5 (or 6) bladed fans were a turn off for me, we've got a club member that has the plane and he really likes it but the sound just bugs me! :)

Yep. I contacted MotionRC. The new version has larger motors (3048-2150 Kv), 12 blade fans, and upgraded ESC's to 80 Amps. Great bargain when you compare prices with other EDF's. I have a feeling they will sell out when this gets out.

I did the upgrade to the 12 blade fans when they did the video months ago....and it is twice the airplane.....Love it

Yes now that it has been upgraded I will get it. Before the cost was to high for me to justify for it and I hate the sound of 5-6 bladed fans anymore. Thank you Freewing!!:Cool:

I need this 262! I don't have any real experience with EDFs yet (other then my UMX A-10) and am too scared to jump straight into this beautiful twin-engined Schwalbe. :Loser: I still want one really, really badly. Maybe my wife needs one for an early Mothers' Day gift. She's already getting a Spitfire and a Bf-109 Emil for Easter (hopefully). :Sacred:

The Freewing F-86 is an excellent first EDF, I moved to it from my Habu 2 and it was a piece of cake to fly.

How is it on a grass runway? You guys aren't the first to tell me that the F-86 would be a good first jet. I'm reluctant to spend 3 bills, though, for a plane that I'm not heads-over-heals crazy about. I should get over that, and listen to the sage advice that I'm being given. We have a swap meet coming up in a month. Maybe I can score a used one in good condition.

It is fine on short grass, with half flaps for takeoff, with a 190-200mm CG location. It will struggle to lift off in tall grass. If you want a cheap intro EDF plane, the hand-launched 64mm F9F Panther is another very good choice. Great flier, but the lack of retracts led me to sell it off.

I have also considered the hand-launched 64mm F-86, but I also want my first jet to give me ROG take off and landing experience. And, of course, the gear has to be retractable.
'Easy' flier, decent size, retractable gear, inexpensive... pick three... LOL

I'm on my third one, crashed the first two. The first one was dumb thumbs, the second was loss of signal. When the day comes that Freewing discontinues the plane I will order two of them as spares so I can keep flying it for many years to come.

We fly off of a petromat runway, I have no experience with this plane on grass.

I have also been considering the 80mm F-86 Saber as my first EDF for a while but now with the new Freewing F-16 V2 70mm It seems to be another great entry level EDF. With its lower cost and easier to fly than the 90mm F-16 it looks like a good option.

Only fly off short grass and found no issues with the F86 or the Venom. Just watch the plane it will tell you when its ready to lift. Waiting now for the Avanti just ordered and waiting on the A10 pre order button.

I looked on the MRC site, but they don't have the new motors/fans listed as spare parts. I hope they do that soon so I can upgrade my Schwalbe!
