Are you guys going with the recommended rates as per the manual ? Is it pitch or roll sensitive ? All my current jets are 70mm. This will be my first 90mm.....just wondering what to expect since I usually end up dialing down the rates on my other edfs.
The Stinger 90 isn't overly sensitive even on higher throws in comparison to many jets flown, especially compared to some scale jets. However, my throws are lower than the manuaI. Even though I configured triple rates on the TX, I only fly the jet on my particular high throws for elevator and aileron (both at 15mm) and it works well for me to allow good aerobatics, yet not be overly sensitive on the sticks (although that's very subjective if course). My CG is right at 115mm when checked inverted and wheels retracted/up.

You may want larger throws, and would be more in line with the ones suggested in the manual, but the ones above are what I prefer.

Congrats and have fun on the flights!

sounds encouraging guys....Got it today, and wouldn't you know it....the left wing was crushed from shipping damage. The stellar team at Motion are taking care of me by sending a new wing set. I love these guys. Out of all the jets I have ordered from them, this is the first to arrive damaged.....guess it had to happen sooner or later, but DERN ! Its blowing 25 - 30mph here in south Florida, so a maiden was out of the question for this weekend anyway. I can take this one on the chin. So this weekend, I have to come up wit a good wire routing for the afterburner ring. Maybe I can drill a hole into the tail well to access the wire chase.

The afterburner mod results were a success ! I have a video, but not sure how to post it. Let me tinker for a bit...anyway, I just couldn't look at the white tailpipe any longer, so I drilled a hole in the top of the tailpipe area to rout the wires to the tail group wire chase. Then painted inside the thrust tube and back of the tail area with black. Now that's more like it !

Thanks Aros ! Took about 2.5 hours. Most of the work involved carving a little foam since the tail end is concave, and the ring is flat and very rigid. No chance of bending it to conform to the air frame. The rest was running the wires, and tapping into the power supply. Piece of cake.

This is how I like to tap into the power supply. Didn't like the war freewing did it. They tapped it at the EC5, which in my opinion puts undue strain on the small 20 gauge wires for the BEC.

Good job on the afterburner! I have one on mine as well. Adds some cool and fun factor to it, and people always think it's an upgrade from the factory. Haha

Maybe I am wrong but I thought this would take off on grass fields...
Unless you have a 15mph headwind, this plane will not take off in grass, no matter how MANICURED it is!!!
The dual wheel nose gear definitely hampers grass field operations....
                              Just saying....
Anybody want to buy one, never flown, just high speed taxied................................... Like new.......

I'm going back and forth between the Stinger 90 PNP and the ME-262. I have two EDF warbirds now (A-10 and DH-112 V2) but only one sport jet (Super Scorpion 80mm) so I'm leaning towards the Stinger 90. Can anyone guesstimate the top speed with a 6s 5000-5500 mAh pack? I'd like a fast EDF and assume it will be faster than my Super Scorpion but was wondering if we're talking Avanit-fast? Or faster perhaps?

To all you experts out there. I am torn between the Stinger 90 and the Avanti S 80. I have a Stinger 64 and up graded to Dr mad thrust and 80 ESC and love it.
Can you safely use a 35C battery as the description says? Thanks

Unfortunately, many manufactures C-rating labeled on their packs don't quite stack up to the LiPo's actual ability to perform under such discharge conditions. So, a person cannot completely trust what a pack will truly be able to discharge at without degradation. However, a few things that can be more trustworthy (and even then it's still not perfect). First, an increased capacity helps with a packs ability to withstand higher discharge rates to a better degree of predictability than the claimed C-rating. Secondly, a LiPo with a higher claimed C-rating from the manufacturer of the same LiPo name and type in their line-up may have a better chance at performing better under higher discharge conditions than one of the manufacturer's packs of lower C-rating in their same brand/line of LiPo's. So, usually if you can purchase the higher C-rating pack out of the brand you were going to choose in the first place, it may provide better voltage under load, less degradation, longer cycle life, and cooler temperature during use. All these variables are also dependent on a persons use and how much their power system draws as well as how well they take care of their LiPo's. The Stinger 90 or Avanti S isn't a very high discharge jet, but it's certainly not easy on batteries, nor are most EDF jets that are relatively powerful. If funds allow, it may be best to purchase a LiPo with a higher discharge rating from the brand/type of LiPo line you were looking at for the reasons stated above. Some LiPo's (mostly in the past now) used to have low C-ratings, but outperformed many of the LiPo's that were labeled with higher C-ratings. However, it's not too common anymore.

Well I finally got the Stinger 90 in the air this weekend. I was trying to take off in grass on the low setting on the elevator. I decided to try full rates on elevator and it took off but not nearly as easily as the Avanti.
Two other guys have been having the same problem struggling to get airborne off of grass without a good headwind. Not sure if they are using low rates or not, haven't had a chance to talk with either one of them yet.
I feel the dual nose wheel does effect the performance on grass field ops. For those of you interested I found a single wheel and strut replacement for it. The only thing you have to do is drill and tap a hole for the landing light or disassemble struts and swap outer housing from dual wheel to single wheel you are installing. It was only $7.45, but I spent $15.00 for shipping from Hong Kong and had it in 5 days.
Other than that the Stinger flies great, would recommend to anyone wanting a 90mm sport jet. I am going to swap out nose strut and see how it does and will post results.

I would like to add that when installing the nose wheel assembly I found the wheel is just a tad bit to big and foam removal will not work as the bottom of the battery tray is there. So, I swapped the tire out for one of the original Avanti nose wheels, Problem solved...

I have not had a chance due to work and weather to try it out yet...

                                          Hello guys.

Need some help and would be mighty glad for advice.

Got the stinger 90 from MotionRc a while back, took some time afterwards to get a Trx and RX to go with it ( im still a noob basically).

so I'm trying to set up and noticed two things

1, when I turn the rudder stick to the right both the rudder and nose gear turn left. Is this normal ?

2, within 3 minutes of plugging the lipo I noticed the bec is heating up. Not scalding hot but noticeably hot. Is this also normal?

Like I said earlier would be glad for pointers, I don't wanna ruin this baby; it's yet to maiden.
