No, I was running the stock system. It's pretty darned good in my opinion. I also run the same motor in my FMS P-51B, my Freewing P-51D and my Flightline Bearcat.
It's great motor. I use Mantis 85A ESC's as well. They're good but the leads are way too short, you have to order extensions if you want to use these.

I'm picking up a couple of 4500's too. They'll work in the Avanti and the Pitts as well as the Spitfire when it comes and when I do the motor mod in the P-40. Also picking up a couple of 4s 4000's aw well to make up for the ones I broke at Nefi. I prefer the 4000's for the Bearcat and the P-40.
So many things to buy!!

I would like another but something always gets in the way. I scabbed out all the other salvageable parts awhile back.Originally posted by Grossman56 View PostI remember that, it came through unscathed if I recall. Must be things like L/G or gear doors. Servos for sure. Spare parts guess. Going to get another one?

Assuming the motor is rated for 6S.
Do some wattmeter tests at least.
You'll be increasing power demand a TON. You might need to change props to keep it inside current the limits of the ESC and motor.FF gliders and rubber power since 1966, CL 1970-1990, RC since 1975.
current planes from 1/2 oz to 22 lbs

Ordinarily, you can't just up the battery cell count. There's a big difference between the 4s motor and 6s motor from the P-47. It's not just the ESC. It's how the motor is built to handle the extra voltage. If you just throw in a 6s battery, you might get away with it for one or two flights or it might not last the first 30 seconds before you see a puff of smoke and have to dead stick it in for a landing.Originally posted by cruiser View PostSince the P40 comes stock with a 4s power system, can I use my Admiral 4000 6s batteries in this plane? It appears that the ESC in the P40 is the same as what the P47 (Warbird Charlie) uses for its 6s power system. I have an adapter to convert from EC5 to EC3. Whaddaya think?
If you understand superchargers and turbochargers on cars, you can't just increase the boost dramatically and not change anything in the motor and expect it to survive.
