A friend in our club has one on the way, he's going to let me fly it once it shows up.

Lots of people (me included) have gotten shipping notices within the past 90 minutes. I guess it's a good thing I got my Freewing F-4 done on Saturday! Now I just need to figure out where I'm going to store it (and my F-4 for that matter!).

I agree with that especially when a company is selling a product at a premium price.

Yes, that was his response to my question and I chose to email. That way, I have it all in print to jog my memory if I don't decide to do it immediately. People do business by email these days and I expect his company to be proficient with it. Like I said, I made the effort to contact. After that, I shouldn't have to go chasing a business down to beg them to take my money. As with any new product, especially in this hobby, these things will come and go. It it's handy and it suits me, I get it now. If I leave it alone long enough, there will be the next big thing.
By contrast, MotionRC has bent over backwards emailing me and phoning me for clarification on a question or a problem. I don't have to chase them for anything.

When they first introduced the 170 I bought it and had numerous questions as I put it together, I detailed everything in an e-mail with pictures and link to some video I took and never heard from them. I send the e-mail a second time, no response. I called them and had to send it a third time then they got it and responded.

I had the same thing happen a year ago when I had a followup question, no response to my e-mail. When I posted my issue on Facebook they got right back to me.

I'm not a fan of Flex (but I love my 170).

EDIT: I did make several phones call to them and left several messages, all went unanswered.

I pulled the trigger today and paid for one from Thunderbolt RC out of Windsor, ON, Canada. My inquire with Flex Innovations and my LHS (just to see what they'd say) resulted in absolutely NO responses. Thunderbolt replied so I bought from them. I'll give my money to whoever shows some kind of attention to customers. It's almost like these other guys simply do not want to sell anything. I'm not going to beg them to take my money. A big FAIL goes to both of them. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the terrific customer relations from MotionRC. Nobody else can even come close.
Oh, and I discovered that Flitetest has the FlexJet on their website. No doubt just a resell from Flex Innovations but I've had good dealings with Flitetest. However, on this one, I didn't make inquiries and there's no mention of any shipping deals for pre-order anyway.

That worked out well. Got an email notification from Motion that the new A-10 main struts were available so grabbed a pair of those. And added on a 8010T for the Flex Jet which got me over the free shipping threshold. Two birds with one stone. ;)

Just curious does anyone know if Flex Innovations will be at the Weak Signals Toledo RC show? Plane looks pretty good may have to get one.

I noticed it a day after the F-4 was released for preorder (yep ordered one of those on day one). Normally I prefer dealing with Motion and buying the Freewing line of jets but I preordered one of these too a week after the F-4..
I was impressed by the flight performance and long flight times (videos from 1st page of thread), and with a little paint work think it could be made to look a lot like a T-50. ;)

The Aura8 pre-programming just ices the cake....power, weight, size.....all great and well engineered with alot of thought going into it.
Interesting that you mentioned "3D". By comparison, my SebArt Mig-29 is a true 3D EDF foamie jet but it has vector thrust nozzles and can hover. It's price point is in the same ball park as this FlexJet (slightly higher). Comparing this way, the FlexJet is not that expensive. However, without vectored thrust, the FlexJet may not be able to hover for long and that's assuming it has the thrust to weight ratio to permit it to go vertical from a stop. Thinking of it as a 3D plane may push me off the fence toward the FlexJet. Can anyone guess if it has a thrust/weight ratio of greater than 1:1?

Here is a vid of the Mig being flown by someone I consider to be a "pro" at flying a 3D EDF..........................

Same here, my first Flex model. However, I've been really impressed with how well their planes fly. The Cessna 170 looks awesome and flies like a dream.

Well, one of my flying buddies just ordered one. He's a Flex Inno fan. Myself and the others, we're still sitting on the fence.

I would expect we could do a similar discount or contribution toward shipping (aka $30 value). I suggest you contact us directly by phone 866 310 3539 ext 1 or at sales@flexinnovations.com.

Usually an address is needed and the shipping is quoted on a case by case basis.
    Tell them David sent you.

We also have Canadian dealers with some import expertise. You could contact them and see if that works.

    Best Regards,
    David
Thank you for the response. I did set up an account with address info. The check out shipping quote didn't work for me (maybe I didn't do it right) and I then sent a request via the contact form. So far, this is the only response I've received. I shall tell my flying buddies of this offer. Yes, I know of the 2 Canadian dealers. A couple of us have dealt with the one in eastern Canada in the past and there's even one here in Calgary. Unfortunately, several of us have a boycott going on for years with the local one, however, I'm thinking one of us will be the guinea pig and make an inquiry just to see.

CORRECTION: Just found the reply for shipping cost in my junk mail folder. Don't want to post bad information. Thanks again.
