  • FLEXJET SUPER PNP

Even though it's not a Freewing / Motion product, I still have to have one of these. After procrastinating for a week (it came out the same day as the Phantom) I pushed the pre-order button tonight. Very impressive vertical performance and really good flight times in a 90 mm EDF

Here's a demo of the blue one being flown by David Ribbe

And another of the red (Edwards scheme) showing what it's capable of in the hands of a 3 D pilot like Seth Arnold

Saw those. It looks like a real fun little jet. Kind of a cross between F-18 and F-16.

I really enjoy sport jets. This one looks like fun and have had my eye on it. The bummer of it, no Kit Plus option. I have a lot of power systems sitting around I’d like to use. The price for the jet in PNP form is a tad high for my taste when I’m going to take components out of it anyway. So, we’ll see. I may sit on the fence for a while.

I saw this fly at it's release during the Arizona Electric Festival last week. What a cool design!

Things really have gotten interesting and awesome in the EDF world lately.

I'll say it again, please feel free to discuss any/all aircraft on Hobby Squawk, guys, it doesn't have to be a product sold at Motion RC. Myself and all of us at Motion RC fly many things that aren't on our website, and I know probably everyone reading this can say the same. We encourage discussion about anything that flies: any manufacturer, any format, any power source, any era, any seller. Diversity is what makes this hobby fun!

I haven't seen this jet in person yet but from the videos it appears David Ribbe and his team did a great job with what looks like a really great flying airplane. I look forward to hearing customer reviews when they start delivering!

I wish it had been on Motion's website. It would have saved me $37 in Florida sales tax. ;)

This jet is very impressive but I can't justify the price as long as I know the Avanti S and Stinger 90 exist for what those sell for. One of my flying buddies loves Flex products. Maybe he'll get one and I'll just sit and drool.

Agreed. That’s one reason I’m hesitant to purchase at the current price. We’ll see though. A Kit Plus price would still likely be a bit high, but would make it more manageable when someone has the power system to install.

It would have to fly significantly better than the Avanti or Stinger for me to likely feel comfortable with the price point. It no doubt looks to fly great, but is it that much nicer than the Avanti or Stinger. The Avanti comes with lights, trailing links, gear doors still, plentiful battery space, fits the same batteries, a good power system, a stable aircraft in just about an maneuver, and can be purchased for $329 PNP or $250 currently for Kit Plus. That is VERY difficult to compete with. It may not come with a gyro like this FlexJet but that is never a determinate for me to purchase a plane, let alone a sport jet.

I also watched Seth and David fly this at the Arizona Electric Festival last weekend and was very impressed. But since I had just sprung for the F-4 pre-order, and had to replace my A-10 that I crashed on Sunday, I'm holding off pre-ordering this. If Project Foil is not released soon and depletes my bank account again, I may get one of these once they are in stock. Looks a lot like a T-50 too. If I get one I may paint it up like this.

In those videos, it shows the FlexJet with an incredibly short take off run, both on pavement and on grass. I've never seen that short a take off with either my Avanti S or Stinger 90. Admittedly, I've never tried to take off from a dead stop with near full elevator deflection like we saw in the Flex video. That short take off and slow flying ability has me taking a second and third look.

The Aura 8 is more than just a gyro, it a Flight Control System that had incredible capabilities. It features 8 Outputs, mixes, multiple different model type setups, the ability to stabilze vector nozzles and much more. It can expand the capabilties of a basic TX like no other system and it unobtrusive in flying the model. All programming is done in the A8 so all you need to do is feed the A8 a serial signal assign a couple of switches and your ready to fly the FlexJet. I run the A8 in all my jets and love it!

I missed this aspect of the FlexJet. This might add a bit more to the value of the product, but I still have to scratch my head hard at $529.00US a copy. If our dollar ever took a leap (not likely), I'd get one.

Well my friend, you almost made it eight hours ... from the post where you said you'd have to hold off ordering until you pulled the trigger. I give you credit. Haha

I ordered mine the first day I saw it debut. NO self control here at all.

Robert, how is the A8 in comparison to the Cortex?

I ordered an Orange jet ..... It was between getting a FlexJet and another F-14 (I have 2 spare boxed F-14's already) ..... F-14 is my Unicorn ..... but the FlexJet really filled the tick boxes when it came down to it ..... very impressive and I love the scheme of the Orange as well as the size...

What really sets the A8 apart is how unobtrusive it is. You dont even know its on, but the model just locks in and flies big
