PS. Merritt is a beautiful place. .....

I believe the mine has long since closed up or at least doesn't employ that many people anymore. .....
I did look at the 8. I also have a 6i which I use for helicopters and drones on mode 2. I fly planes on mode 1 and the new 6 is already on its way.
I think the heavier lipo (2200 to 3300mah) will probably give the required extra nose weight.
We fly at the airport, unfortunately the only suitable place.
Merritt is an odd place to immigrate to. .......Agreed (I have now heard that remark/question probably 50 times already) My wife runs the Love To Dance Academy (RAD ballet) in Merritt.
Good news! The mine reopened about two months ago!

The gear is fairly tough but on a nose heavy landing it will seem to put a small twist in them . Easy to bend back but one or two times and the metal weakens like all will do . Also I found that where it is screwed in at the bottom of the fuse is weak and will push back mainly because the screws that are supplied are cheap and bend . I found some at a local hardware store and replaced . I'll try and get a couple of pictures made and get them posted .

BTW this plane is a joy to fly !! Only problem is the Minion in the pilot seat , he seems to take over once a battery is in

Well Flygirl, I have an orange one but I must say the blue one is just as beautiful. I like the orange trim you have added to the blue wings. I think the orange probably sells maybe better because of the plane movie popularity look alike. Personally I choose the orange because of the better contrast against the blue sky.

Well my landing gear mod worked great today. That gear has been bent back several times already and after today's flying it's still perfect. As far as colors I have one of each but, repainted the blue one as I had trouble seeing it. Old eyes I guess.........

Thanks Harry! Makes sense regarding the contrast!

I've just finished my "Dusty". I also had the low throttle stutter and the resetting the ESC to default worked. Now, as for the CG, what is the "correct" distance? As per the manual picture, 95mm to 100mm from the main leading edge seems excessive. That's about middle way through the wing cord (front to back edge). Using a 2.2A, 4s, battery, the battery has to be shoved almost all the way into the hole where the servos are. That seems to be awfully tail heavy. I'm more used to going 1/3 the wing cord from the leading edge. So, is 65mm the better balance point?
Noting that some people are using way bigger batteries than a 2.2A, something doesn't seem right. Comments please.

I fly mine with no nose weight and 2200 all the way forward. bigger batteries I slide back about 1/2-1 inch depending on the size. I have added bigger heavier tires which while are close to the CG might be 3/4 of an ounce heavier. Seems to me I have mine balanced right at or just behind the wing struts..

Thanks. Even Motion's video showed the 2.2 battery all the way forward. Common sense and the little hairs on the back of my neck prevented me from flying this plane till I got the real deal.

According to my research, internet and actual, 65mm from the leading edge is the magic number. I also use 2.2A Lipos, all the way forward, Dubro lite 3" wheels which is about 2x the weight of the original wheels, plus 3x 7gr (3x 1/4oz) weights on the nose, to get I slightly nose down balance. (NB: important to check the balance plane upside down with balance points close to the fuselage)

I did test fly the C188 "as is", "out of the box", but it was a struggle. It flew very mushy especially in the turns. I recommend that you thoroughly check the COG balance before flying.

I do not understand why some C188's are in balance without nose weights and some not? Unless the foam density varies or some models have different push rod thickness? I have found postings where some pilots went up as high as 1 1/2 oz on the nose.

                                          Keep us updated!
