F2G balancing?

I use Great Planes balancing machine. The book for my F2G Corsair says to balance it with retracts down, and I was reading other forums and they say to balance it wheels up? (Makes sense since the plan is not flying with the retracts down) I love this plane and I'm afraid of messing it up on maiden flight. Any advice?

Hi Tim, I'd suggest that you look on you tube under Motion RC or check out the video on the motionrc webpage for the Corsair.  I don't know which brand or scale you plane is, but I've found that creating your own you tube channel and checking out motionrc and rcinformer are a lot of help.  That said, most planes with retracts are balanced with the wheels up, this being the position for flight, however, with a bent wing bird, it might be different and as I don't own one as of yet, I'd hate to say one way or another.  Worse comes to worse, go to the support page and drop MotionRC an e mail, they're great people to deal with!

Hey Tim , as a rule when you have gear that retracts always put them up . When you fly your gear will be up . On a Corsair the gear goes back when retracted throwing your CG back . also be sure you turn your plane upside down . Any low wing turn over , any high wing keep upright when your doing the CG .

Thank you Hippie. I'm going to rebalance wheels up, and it should let me move my battery forward more which I thought was getting to far back to achieve proper CG. Nice jet by the way. I'm going to put my Corsair on here shortly.

You  balance it upside down with gear up. The gear rotates back behind cg. you fly mostly with gear up
