Aros I just ran across you on youtube flying the 1700 Corsair, did the prop come off? What caused the plane to come apart like that in this video?

Yes I was the first person to get the 1700 Corsair in the States as I was doing design work for FMS at the time. So I guess I was the guinea pig, LOL. What happened was the hub was faulty which ripped apart, broke the props and that was what you saw. It looked like an invisible BF-109 strafed me something serious! One of the props was sticking out of the ground! Just glad nobody was hurt.

FMS quickly resolved the issue and created a stronger hub.

Thats crazy, I have never seen anything like it. At first I thought someone with a mini drone or heli got you then I slowed down the video even further and saw there was nothing there! That thing looked like it wanted to keep flying without tail feathers and 1 blade prop lol.

I was just getting ready to subscribe to your YouTube channel and noticed you were the poor guy who had that beautiful 1700 Corsair's tail blow up while in the air! Last month, because of that video, I went back and glued the tail feathers on my P-51 V8 even though it was screwed in too. LOL! Did you ever find out why that happened?

Ack! I should have looked above. Saw the answer! Still, that thing really shattered!

Yeah it was really scary because there was a fairly large crowd all around watching, including a child. Had that happened right by us on the fly by, one of those props could have seriously injured someone (or worse!). The FAA was even studying the video I discovered.

Are you familiar on the amounts of liability coverage AMA has, I assume that is for flying only at a designated filed?

I am not sure about whether or not it will cover you if you have an issue outside of a designated flying field. But there is different options of coverage. You can get all the info at the AMA website.

They changed their policy to cover non-AMA fields like parks, schools, etc. I remember reading about it a few months back. For the particulars you would need to check out their website.

True statement! And I'm a 3 year AMA member too.. I like flying multirotors for making videos and they were the only ones fighting for us hobbyist types against the FAA.
