I just pulled the trigger and got one from MRC! Does anyone have one? How is this plane?

RE: FMS 800mm P-40 Warhawk
I have one of the 800mm P40s from FMS. Mine is what I call a version 1.5, even though it was supposed to be a version 2. Mine has a less powerful motor, and even though they sent me the upgraded motor, the shaft was not long enough, so I couldn't install it. Even so, mine flies pretty well. Could definitely use more power, but with the 1700KV motor, yours should be fine. Surprisingly stable in the air, more so than some of the others in my opinion at least.
I think you will enjoy it, but keep in mind, these smaller 800mm birds are much more twitchy than the larger ones, and you really have to be on top of them to fly them well.

RE: FMS 800mm P-40 Warhawk
I can't wait she will be here tomorrow! I love to get new planes, I love the smell of new foam in the evening, better yet I love a good maiden flight. I bought a new Samsung HD video camera we will see how the wife does as a camera gal, she absolutely sucks using her phone lol, she always gives up and deletes the video before the flight is over.Flight Risk (Sean)

Did not hurt the plane just need a new prop, I don't know what happened it was like it stalled. Maybe the camera is too heavy, I forgot to check CG with the camera mounted. Y'all seeing where the name comes from? LOL I take complete blame for this crash, I just need to figure out what happened so it don't happen again.
Just waiting on the build video.Flight Risk (Sean)

Hey Sean,
Really wondering about that name comment now or was this just a test to see how observant we are? What I'm referring to is the time stamp on the video.

That is the time stamp that came on the 909 keychain cam I have tried to change it a few times but it don't save. Yes it is my new P-40 maiden was filmed yesterday morning. I have posted 2 pictures taken with the same keychain cam I used yesterday. Please note the date and time stamp.Originally posted by OV10Hey Sean,

I am not sure if you were calling me a liar or if you were telling me to fix my camera, I certainly hope it was the later of the 2. And for future reference 07:38:40 is way too early for me to be awake on a Saturday morning.Flight Risk (Sean)

LOL Gman that camera is a china special it came with the date all jacked up, you should see the instructions that came with it. All I was able to figure out was how to install the SD card turn it on and make it work, I would not have done that if not for pictures. But hey what do you expect for a mini cam for under 7 dollars shipped!
This is the camera I use.Flight Risk (Sean)

RE: FMS 800mm P-40 Warhawk
Sorry your maiden flight didn't work out well, but one good thing about these 800mm FMS planes is that they are tough! Also, as you noticed, CG on these is very critical. They are already more difficult to fly than the larger planes, and if anything is off, it just makes them that much harder to fly. However, once set up, they really do fly nicely, and are good to help improve your skills. Make sure you set up the control throws as shown in the manual too. If you can fly these guys well, you can pretty well tackle most any plane out there.
Good luck on it! Let us know how the next flight goes for you.

RE: FMS 800mm P-40 Warhawk
Is it just me, or the camera, or do the trailing edges of the control surfaces seem extra thick to you? I need to check my 980mm version when I get home later to compare. I saw your maiden, and that does suck! I'm always jittery on maiden flights since there is so much you don't know until about 30 seconds into the flight, but you didn't even get the opportunity to get a feel for it. I wonder if it might have been your CG location?Originally posted by STOOPIDMONKEYHere is the build video, although not much of a build but here it is!
