    RE: My Hanger

I have flown only the DJI but my friend has the Pixhawk and DJI albeit on different frames. The Pixhawk is a little harder to set up than the DJI but the end product as far as stability is concerned is equal. They are both good controllers. He has a Y6 like mine that he used a NAZA Lite hacked so it runs NAZA V2 code and that thing is even rock steady.

Hi rt, I have the BBD version as well and am thinking of a sound system as a next winter project.  If there's one thing about FMS P51's D model is that there is a ton of accessible  room in the fuse.

Agreed Grossman, there's plenty of room. the only issue I've found is with the battery tray... You need to install the TT-22 (or TT-26? forget the model of speakers lol) on your CG line so they don't adversely affect the plane. Doing that, however, puts them in the way of the battery tray. Not enough to not be able to get it in & out, but enough to irritate ya :P

Also still trying to work out the bugs with the throttle position sync.... Pilot Ryan's video made it look easy, but it hasn't gone that way with mine.... I've been trying to use the throttle trim to get the sound system to initialize but it won't until the stick is moved... then it shuts down when the stick is moved to 0, and often times won't start again... just plays the shutdown sound... not sure if it's the AR636 getting in the way, or? been working with it to see.

when it's working though it sounds pretty cool :)

Don't know if you've checked this video out, but it seems to help a lot with the install

            RE: My Hanger

Got some videos up on my YouTube channel with the Y6 :) they're a bit boring, was the maiden flight Saturday, and my first FPV flight with it this evening. Mainly just testing out the airframe, gimbals, FPV setup and doing some fine tuning... but enjoy! :D

Looking mighty fine RT! Don't you love how sharp that camera is? And you guys have a great field to fly off of. Boy, I wish we had something like that.... That will be a great place to do you FPV too it looks like... :-)

I just remembered something I wanted to ask you.... When I fly FPV, the camera I use to fly the Y6 is a small 60TVL FatShark camera (with ImmersionRC EZOSD so I can watch voltages) that is not stabilized meaning if I bank the Y6 or change the attitude of the copter the camera moves too so I get visual feedback on what's going on. I think you mentioned that you were taking your FPV feed off the GoPro which is on the Tarot. How do you feel your control of the copter is? Can you tell what it is doing in the air?

And those damn goggles fog up often... LOL! At the risk of sounding a little gross, ummmm, you can rub some spit on them like divers do.... ROFL! I do that but I don't tell people that want to look in the goggles. Hehehe!

Things are sluggish, for sure. But you can use ground reference to see if you're drifting & such. I like to have the feed from the camera, that way I can try to keep the target within frame. Think I'll get 3D Robotics OSD system to go in between however, since it will take telemetry data off of the Pixhawk and overlay it on the FPV image, which will give me an artificial horizon :D

Being a diver myself, I thought about the spit thing.... didn't really want to do it though lol :P

                  Grossman,

I referenced that video when I did the install, however, the comment he did regarding spektrum has got me questioning if I haven't been waiting long enough before initiating the sound card? will do some testing on the next weather break we get :P

                  Thanks!

Great to see that someone else is building flite test planes! How has your experience with them been? I've got an FT 3D and an FT Spit.
You might be able to fly it, but can you land it?

I love the Flite Test planes! they have been a great learning tool for getting into RC, as well as getting others into it ;) I started out flying RC planes by using the FT22. Easy easy platform, TONS of fun, and super simple to build & repair. I've actually been building about 5 now to hand to folks who've expressed an interest in flying rc (With a reference to motionrc for their first purchase model, of course :D )

I've been trying to get members of my club to start building flite test planes, but so far, it's tough since most of the members are into balsa. The FT 3D, I found, is a great intro. to 3D. It was my first 3D plane, and so far, there isn't any bad thing to say. I love the flite test's idea of swappable power pods.

                            Hey all :) been a while! :D

sorry for my absence... I have poked around from time to time in the forum, but between work and some new projects (see below) I've been kept pretty busy.

My RC hanger hasn't changed all that much, all though it will have a nice new Pacific Silver P-38 once it arrives ;)

Other then that, I've actually picked up a Grob 109a motor glider :D been working on it, should hopefully have it flyable here this summer. Will be a nice platform to get my private pilot in.

That's cool rtwatkins that you used flite test planes to get into this hobby. I mean you crash them who cares as long as the electronics are fine and the lipo did not turn into an accordion LOL. I love your icon you used that was legends of zelda 2 I think haha. I have a smaller 62" motor glider they fly very well and stable mine does float pretty good wish it was better though.
