Capt! I did not waterproof it which I should do.... My thoughts were to put a balloon around it like we used to do when I was racing boats?

LF, unfortunately the lake isn't close unfortunately. I live in Maryland which has no natural lakes so the Beave is going on wheels the rest of the year. We have a cottage on that lake which is in northeast Pennsylvania and we get there only a little over two weeks a year. Next year I am retiring and will be there all summer. Can't wait!

OK, here's one for you concerning the Flyzone Beaver......

I took mine out for its maiden yesterday. CG was perfect, all throws coordinated and neutral, trims neutral.
Taxi down the runway, bullet straight.

I take off and it raises into the air very scale......... then it happens.
All of a sudden all it wants to do is bank to the right. I start trimming left.
The only way i could get it to level out is to add 100% left trim..... very weird, I had no additional left trim to give.

It's like the right wing is way heavier then the left wing.
I checked the side to side balance holding the spinner and the tip of the tail and it indeed swung almost upside down to the right!!!

I've never seen that before.............. Anyone have an idea what's going on. (all of the internal electronics are centered).
Thought I'd ask around before I start adding any counter weight.

Like I said, very weird.

Very weird!!! I had no issues with weight balance at all Bill. The CG was on the money all the way around. I can't imagine what would make one wing so heavy. Can you take them off and weigh them separately?

That is an idea. I might give that a shot just to see.

Like I said the CG front to back was dead on but, that hard roll to the right when attempting to balance it holding the spinner and the tip of the tail is just uncanny.

It's really a stump-er for me.

Hey Rktr

When I read your post about your problem, I thought holy crap... no way!

I just went out and held mine like you did, by the tail and spinner, and it rolled almost inverted!
BUT, to add to the "weiredness " mine rolled to the left.
I don't remember having any trouble on my maiden. Checked the trim setting on my Txr and I have it 3 clicks to LEFT

That doesn't make any sense

Excellent first flight!

I like how take offs with the beaver can be super short. She really wants to climb when you give it throttle.

Indeed,

I have never experienced anything like this flight tendency.

I think I'm going to try adding a bit of counter weight under the left wing to see what happens.

The way I see it, I can't continue to fly it with no trim left so if the additional weight doesn't fix it, I'll ground it till I can figure it out.

Had a chance to fly late today. And decided to take the DHC-2 Beaver out.(Iron Ass was a close second for choice) Guess that reflects how much I'm enjoying the Beaver at the lake with choosing to fly it over the Mustang.

Run 4 batteries thru it. Love the idea of not having to check and double check retracts. This landing and taking off on the water is so sweet.  Wind changes direction....no problem! All kinds of flat smooth surface to line-up on and bring her into the wind to land.
