Dynam C-47

I see in the "coming soon" section MRC is going to carry a Dynam C-47. A few comments... It looks like a great fixer upper. It appears that they took a DC-3 and painted it like a C-47. There is no cargo door. That's fine with me, because I'll paint mine silver and convert it back to a DC-3. They show 2 versions of it. One has molded in doors and windows and the other has cheesy stick on doors. I wonder which one we will recieve? I wish it had retracs. I would gladly pay the extra cash. It also looks like it might be a tad under powered. We'll see. The Doctor

I flew the Dynam DC-3 years ago and recall it was somewhat docile, and yes a little underpowered. The only negative I found was the tailwaheel was not controllable, it was on a swivel. First thing I did was connect linkage to it from the rudder servo. Hope they have corrected this by now.

There are excellant build videos for this plane at Nitro Planes. Yes, it is , indeed, a repaint of the original Dynam DC3. It has a freewheeling tail wheel which may be, easily, connected to the rudder servo. Doc

One of the reasons why we did not carry the C-47 earlier was out of concern for the castoring tailwheel. The good news is that based on our requests Dynam has now redesigned the tailwheel to be connected to the rudder. Now the aircraft has steering authority on the ground without any modifications needed!

I have had two of the Dynam DC-3/C-47.  They are very nice flying models.  I painted on in a 60's U. S. Army scheme and wrapped one as the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad's first corporate plane in 1956.

There are a few mods that are not absolutely necessary, but that make the plane more enjoyable.  It sounds like Motion had Dynam take care of the most problematic issue, the tail wheel.  In Dynam's defense, the real DC-3 tail wheel is a simple castoring wheel. 
 
The second is removing the down thrust in the motors.  It is a simple mod, remove the motor boards and trim the top mounting lugs then re install.  This helps with ground handling more than anything else, nose overs all but go away with this mod.
