Similar to the drip edge used on a house. The water tends to drip off the bend rather then keeping on migrating up the pushrod.

Yes... water will defy gravity due to the effect of surface tension.

But since the kink (as shown) is parallel to the ground it offers no benefit (no low spot, nucleation point for a drip). And as it looks like it is close to the foam it might actually just add drag to the operation of the push rod.

I don't see how surface tension or capillary action is being utilized here to move water.

I see Konrad's point about GP/Flyzone getting to the PNP/BNF Foamie party late. That said though...proper etiquette at that party has been established...for a while now.

This is a good thing...now we just need to get the folks in charge at Tower to read criticisms like this and maybe do what all the other companies seem to be doing...following the suggestions...as much as feasible and profitable...of their customers. Now more than ever we see brands like Durafly, Fliteline RC/Freewing and FMS stepping up their game big time...and taking foamies to a level that unfortunately...puts Flyzone even further behind. It seems like the need for change would be obvious. I have to wonder...is Tower even looking at the competition at all?

In the old days GP was known as Grate Pains and this was well deserved!

It was hoped that after the ESOP that customer focus would become paramount to the 'new Great Planes'. Now I haven't seen the balance sheet for Hobbico, but as most ESOPs aren't purchased from a position of strength. I suspect that they (Hobbico) don't have the resources to revamp their product line or fully integrate a customer first culture. Its been over 10 years so maybe something else is at work here.

I will say that the post ESOP Hobbico is head and shoulders above what we got with the old Hobbico/Grate Pains. But still a distant second to firms like MotionRC.
