Hello Xviper! Missed out on ordering the Canadian scheme Twin Otter from VQ.Warbirds, but lo and behold, Motion RC is going to carry it now! So I'm waiting for the ship to come in! I did finally manage to get one assembled and had my show pilot take it out and maiden it. I really had to fiddle with getting the CG right, but finally got it to fly as advertised. Not fast, nope, but rather graceful like the full scale ones. I'm going to try the Canadian scheme on floats as well. I will report back when I get that adventure started. Started cutting lumber and bulkheads for the 120" span Grumman Widgeon. Haven't started on the de Havilland DHC-5 Buffalo yet, but have decided it will be yellow with those leaf things on it!

Nice! Are you scratch building the Buffalo. I've always wanted one of those but haven't found a reasonably priced kit. Not that I have room for one now anyway.

Xviper, no, not scratch built. I bought a short kit and the drawings for same off of eBay. I think they were from a guy who CADs stuff out who is in Washington State. So all the major stuff is done. Pretty sweet set of drawings to scale, I think wingspan was 95"?????(but don't quote me). Been a while since I've pulled it down from the shelf. He sells as ordered so takes a few days for him to crank out the pieces and the drawings. Seems to me drawings and short kit were right around the $200.00 USD mark. I believe he also put a note in there on the drawings about having the same stuff for a Caribou if I was interested. I bought a set of workable retracts off of VQ Warbirds, had to buy mains as a set and steerable nose wheel separately. If you have any trouble locating the guy, he's all over eBay, let me know. I will get you a set of the drawings and a short kit and could mail it up. You will have to let me know how much to declare and what, so you don't get nailed.

dutchwhite001 Thanks for the kind offer, but it'll be quite some time before I have enough room to even consider another plane that size. I've got 2 more planes coming in the next few months and I have no idea where they're going to go. I'll have to fly lots and crash a few.

I bought the H9 Twin Otter second-hand, somewhere in 2015, for 230 Euro, all-in. They guy was intimidated by its size, and didn't dare to fly it. Good for me :-)
I love this model, it flies so well, and it is a magnificent sight.

Size (big) is only a matter of mental perception. Generally, the bigger the plane, the more stable it will fly. I've had the Hanger 9 Twin Otter years ago. It flew really well but I didn't power it with enough watts to make it a fun plane to fly - had to keep the throttle near max all the time. I now have this HK (VQ model) Twin Otter and I made sure it was powerful enough and it flies the way I like it.
Transport and storage is the main problem.

I fully agree that a larger model flies a lot more stable, which is what makes the H9 Twin Otter so nice.
I equipped it with Eflite Power 32 motors, which in theory makes it ridiculously overpowered, but it has many advantages to do so: the margin of power available gets you out of trouble fast when needed, and it allows you to cruise around at half throttle easily. This gives me flight times of over 10 minutes without any problem.
What I like most in the model is how it can be landed so scale-like: steep approach (relatively), then very long flare to touchdown, vertical speed controlled by throttle.
But I guess I'm off-topic here....
