Great tip, wvrailfan! Excellent recommendation, I'll need to try it soon. 7g per square foot is very appealing for a super shiny finish.

I notice he mentions Ultracote as an alternative. Anyone with any experience with this product on foam, he skims over it so I'm thinking it must be pretty straight forward

Spent some time last night getting all the FMS props and hubs mounted, and making sure I had both inboards on one battery lead, and the outboards on the other. I initially had some cowl rubbing issues using the stocks holes in the cowls. What I did instead was lined up the cowls to give me about 1/8" clearance from the back of the prop hubs to the dummy radials, then made a new hole in the cowl and secured it. Now all props turn free and easy.

I'm going to try and make it out to the museum this weekend and get a bunch of good walkaround shots to send to Callie.

So the B-17 took to the air for the first time yesterday, and two more flights today. We just laid down our geotex runway yesterday, and I had to try it out!

All I need to do is add some CF spars to the wing joint, and the final decals. Ready for the Apollo Warbird gathering on April 9th!

Thanks. Did a little detailing to the wing tonight. Added the Tri-U decal, painted the wing walk stripes as per the reference pic, and painted the red gas caps. I still need to do the stripes on the starboard wing.

Also, yesterday I embedded some 4mm CF tube into the center wing joint. I was not happy with that just being a glue joint, so I cut 3 channels and epoxied the CF in place. Nice and solid joint now.

Nice Pat, I remember seeing Sentimental Journey up in Canada, and thinking, wow what a great plane. Also saw the one at The Museum of Flight in Seattle long before she was restored, she was still in water bomber mode, then she went to England to film Memphis Belle. One, if not the only F model still left, completely restored now. Also, 909 flies to Cody every once in a while, got to go inside her as well. If you ever want a whole new appreciation for what those guys did for us, step inside a B17 or a B24 and realize that there wasn't much space or protection there.

Got a little more detailing done tonight. Finished the wing walk stripes on the starboard wing. Added some "rust" to the superchargers, and some exhaust weathering. Also got one side of the tail painted, and couldn't resist adding the decals.

Got a little more done tonight. Still need to do the Sentimental Journey and Betty Grable decals. My color laser is not printing well at the moment as the drums need to be replaced. I will be getting those soon.
